With the increasing international exchange in society, the time-honored Chinese civilization, as one of the important oriental civilizations, has great significance, among which folk culture, as an indivisible component of Chinese civilization, serves as one of the source powers and folk foundation for its development. Therefore, the translation of folk culture shoulders the important mission of carrying forward the external communication of Chinese traditional culture. Guanzhong culture, as a vital branch of cultures in northwestern China, has been developed and inherited for thousands of years on Guanzhong area, the place where 13 dynasties in Chinese history had their capitals established, and its popularity to an outside world has profound significance. This report, which is conducted based on the Scientific Research Fund Program for postgraduates in Xi'an International Studies University, is a study on the basis of translation practice of folk art in Yuanjiacun, a place where Guanzhong Culture is experienced, under the guidance of the Skopos Theory. The practice is a process of material collection and classification as well as a Chinese-English translation of the materials about Guanzhong folk culture, and dwells on the development of Guanzhong folk culture, folk cuisine, folk handicrafts and activities in a vivid and descriptive style with the main purpose of external communication. In the translation process, it was found that culture-loaded words and rich cultural connotation are the main characters of the text. Therefore, the author referred to the parallel texts concerning the translation of folk culture, and mainly discussed how the author has solved the key problems in the translation practice and given a study on the translation techniques employed in the translating process under the guidance of Skopos Theory so as to explore a pattern for cultural translation on folk cultures.Through the translation practice and its relevant study, the author is convinced that cultural connotation in folk culture translation is required to understand it in depth and interpret it in detail, thus achieving the purpose of better culture communication.
