Aki Kaurismaki is the only director in Finland who has a worldwide influence. From Shadows in paradise,Ariel,The Matcfactory Girl to "the Finnish trilogy," Drifting Clouds,The Man Without a Past,Lights in the Dusk, and in recent years Le Havre, the other side of Hope,he has made his mark at major film festivals around the world. He was called,"the most promising director in northern Europe." by Ingmar Bergman. This paper will use the theories of cinematology, narratology and political science to study the creative style of Aki Korrismarkie's films from the aspects of film theme expression, image creation style, narrative strategy and so on.On the subject of film, his films always tend to focus on the fate and living state of the people on the edge of the bottom, and show concern for the history and reality of Finland. He integrates the social reality of Finland into the film in the most simple way.Show the joys and sorrows of the world in the simplest way.In terms of image style,Aki Kaurismaki is good at minimalism, which is mainly reflected in simple dialogue, simple composition, simplified performance, concise music. At the same time, the director also uses black humor to adjust the calm tone of the film.In the narrative strategy, though the length of each movie is long, the story is very complete, with a ring of ups and downs. On the other hand, the director also has an ulterior motive. He uses folk politics to explain his movie and raise the movie to a certain height. In today's era, under the trend of commercial films flying all over the world,he still pursues the essence of art films, sticks to his heart, everything is simple,in the realism and surrealism to find the film true,Using black humor to write sadness, love and politics are interspersed in the film all the time. His works are full of humanist concern and have humanistic spiritual connotations.Unlike most modern film directors,he opposes the commercialization and technicalization of films. He adheres to his own personality and style, which have made him a success in film as well as a personal success.
