Objective: To explore the relationship between the covitality,school climate and depression in middle school students,and discuss the multi-layered moderating effect of school climate in it.Methods: Conduct a questionnaire survey on secondary school studentsin Hunan Province by adopting stratified cluster sampling method and using the Social and Emotional Health Survey-Secondary(SEHS-S),Delaware School Climate Scale(Student Volume)(DSCS-S),Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9).The collected valid data is analyzed by SPSS21.0 and HLM7.0.Results:(1)The scores of covitality and school climate of middle school students were significantly different in different genders,places of origin and grades,while the scores of depression were significantly different in different grades.(2)There was a significant positive correlation between covitality and school climate,a significant negative correlation between covitality and depression,and a significant negative correlation between school climate and depression.(3)The study showed that covitality of middle school students has a significant negative predictive effect on depression,and the influence degree of covitality on depression is different in different schools.(4)When students perceived ahigher level of school climate,the negative predictive effect of covitality on their depression was more obvious.Conclusion:(1)Students' covitality and high quality perception of school climate have protective effects on their depression.(2)The more positive the school climate is perceived by middle school students,the greater the influence of covitality on their depression.
