| Listening plays a dominant role in the four basic skills of English learning: listening,speaking,reading and writing,and it is the basis for language learning.Improving students’ listening ability can enhance their interest and stimulate their initiative in English learning,so as to improve their comprehensive English ability.However,the “time-consuming and inefficient” traditional teaching mode is not obvious for the improvement of students’ listening ability.In recent years,the research on the theory and application of mobile learning has confirmed its potential teaching value.And the research demonstrated the possibility of its popularization and wide application.With the rapid development of mobile communication and the expansion of mobile learning demand,the mobile learning mode is more and more mature,and its advantages of flexibility,convenience,efficiency and interaction are gradually prominent,which make it possible for mobile devices to be used in teaching.Therefore,this thesis focuses on the effects of mobile APP on English listening of vocational school students.Based on autonomous learning theory and constructivism theory,this thesis conducts an experiment on the effects of mobile APP on students’ listening comprehension in the autonomous learning field outside the classroom.This empirical study is about the following issues:1.What are the effects of mobile APP on vocational students’ English listening engagement? 2.What are the effects of mobile APP on vocational students’ English listening ability? In this thesis,two parallel classes in Grade two of Cili Vocational School in Hunan province are taken as the research objects.The two classes used different teaching modes,the experimental class used mobile APP for listening teaching after class,while the control class used recorder for English listening training in traditional way.During the three-month period,the author used the methods of questionnaire,listening test,and made statistical analysis of the data.After the experiment,some of the students who participated in the experiment were interviewed.Through the experiment,the author finds that: 1.Mobile APP can effectively improve the vocational school students’ English listening engagement.2.Mobile APP can improve the vocational school students’ English listening ability by improving their subjective initiative and changing the listening training methods and so on.The author can draw the following conclusions: Mobile APP can effectively improve vocational students’ English listening engagement and listening ability,which is worthy popularizing in teaching practice by English teachers.Due to the limitation of school teaching arrangement,the experimental exists some shortcomings because of the short time,the small number of students and the single experimental means.In theprocess of the experiment,there are also some uncontrollable factors.If we can extend the time of the experiment,increase the number of students participating in the experiment,group and study the students by random sampling,eliminate other possible interference factors,the research conclusion will be more convincing. |
