A Study Of Folk Elements In Chinese Science Fiction Movies In The 21st Century(2000-2019)

Sci-fi films are imported from the West,and the differences between the eastern and western cultural contexts make Chinese science-fiction movies have unique national characteristics.In the 21 st century,Chinese science fiction movies are based on cultural self-confidence,incorporating folklore elements into film creation,and reflecting unique cultural significance and artistic charm.This article takes Chinese science fiction movies in the 21 st century as the object of inquiry,and explores the modeling,narrative and ideographic functions of folk elements in movies based on the perspective of folklore.Based on this,it further analyzes the reasons for integrating folk elements in Chinese science fiction movies,attempts to explore useful inspiration for the creation of science fiction films.The thesis is composed of five parts: the introduction part summarizes the research results of academia in science fiction film,folklore,and film folklore,identifies the related concepts involved in this article,and elaborates the research status,research content and research methods of this topic.The first chapter is based on the folklore classification in the field of folklore.It divides the folklore elements in Chinese science fiction movies into four categories: material folklore,social folklore,spiritual folklore,and language folklore.Material folklore tends to create the environment and enhance the realism of the film;social folklore tends to render the atmosphere and create spectacles;spiritual folklore tends to shape characters and express emotions;language folklore leans to structural plots and sublimation themes.These four types of folk customs constitute the national characteristics of Chinese science fiction movies in the 21 st century.The second chapter analyzes the aesthetic functions of folk elements in Chinese science fiction movies from the perspective of film aesthetics.The aesthetics of folk customs are conducive to the creation of audiovisual wonders,while the specificity and cultural meaning of folk customs can construct the plot of the movie.The creation of audiovisual wonders includes visual wonders and auditory wonders.The construction of film plot refers to the narrative function of folklore in creating plot conflicts,promoting plot development and affecting the ending of the story.The third chapter analyzes the cultural significance of the 21 st century Chinese science fiction movies by using the cultural attributes of folk elements,subtly integrating folk elements into the plot,promoting national family ethics and collectivist moral concepts,as well as realizing political and cultural metaphor Function,which cause people to think about national culture and national spirit.Chapter 4 explores the reasons for the integration of Chinese science fiction movies into folk elements from a diversified perspective.A variety of factors,including the artistic and functional attributes of the science fiction film,the aesthetic tendencies and psychological demands of creators and receivers,and the social and global context of China,have led to the absorption and use of folk elements in Chinese science fiction movies in the 21 st century.In summary,the thesis aims to explore the positive influence of folklore on the creative style of Chinese science fiction movies and the significance of constructing “ethnic science fiction movies” by exploring the inherent relationship between Chinese science fiction movies and folk elements in the 21 st century.It will provide useful inspiration for the future development of Chinese science fiction movies.
