The Influence Of Trait Positive Empathy On Prosocial Behavior

In our daily life,we will meet people who are happy,friendly and helpful every day.Others are gloomy and indifferent.Mr.Chen Jiaying said: The righteous man helps others,not so much because he thinks it is ethical,but because he goes by nature.Nature refers to a person's characteristics from a psychological point of view.Among them,Trait empathy is a predictor that has a greater impact on prosocial behavior.Empathy is often associated with negative emotions in traditional research,such as empathy for emotions such as pain and sadness.The research holds that empathy for other people's negative emotions is an important factor in promoting pro-social behavior.With the development of positive psychology,more and more researchers have turned their attention to the empathy study of positive emotions.Previous studies have found that The ability to empathize with the positive emotions of others is the trait of positive empathy and the negative emotions of others is the trait of negative empathy,can be separated from each other.However,little attention has been paid to the link between positive empathy and pro-social behavior.At the same time,trait positive empathy,positive emotion and perspective-taking are a group of variables with close relationship.There is a significant positive correlation between trait positive empathy and positive emotional tendency.Positive emotion is the result of producing positive empathy for others.perspective-taking is the cognitive basis of empathy,and empathy is a major component of emotion produced by perspective-taking.And all three are closely related to pro-social behaviors.However,at present,there is no research on how positive empathy,positive emotion and perspective-taking affect prosocial behavior together.It is still an unsolved problem whether emotional starting and perspective-taking operations will have different effects on prosocial behavior when they are applied to subjects with different trait positive empathy levels.Therefore,on the basis of previous studies and in view of the shortcomings of previous studies,this study has conducted three studies on college students.Research 1: Use the Trait Positive Empathy Scale and Prosocial Behavior Tendency Scale,select 328 undergraduates and investigate the relationship between the status quo of college students' Trait Positive Empathy and Prosocial Behavior Tendency and the two.Research 2 adopts a 2(trait positive empathy: high,low)×2(emotional starting condition: happy,neutral)inter-subject design.245 undergraduates are selected and the amount of pro-social sharing is taken as the dependent variable to explore the influence of trait positive empathy on college students' pro-social behavior under different emotional starting conditions.In study 3,2(trait positive empathy: high and low)×2(perspective-taking conditions: perspective-taking group,control group)was used as the design of subjects.289 undergraduates were selected and the amount of prosocial sharing was used as the dependent variable to explore the influence of trait positive empathy on college students' pro-social behavior under different perspectivetaking conditions.The study found that:1.The level of female college students' trait positive empathy is significantly higher than that of male college students(t=-2.98,p=0.003);The level of positive empathy of non-only-child college students is significantly higher than that of onlychild college students(t=-2.24,p=0.026).Positive empathy level of college students' traits is significantly positively correlated with prosocial behavior tendency(r=0.50,p<0.001),and can predict prosocial behavior tendency to some extent.2.Both trait positive empathy and emotional starting can effectively affect prosocial sharing behavior,moreover,trait positive empathy and emotional starting have interactive effects on individuals' prosocial sharing behavior(F=4.70,p<0.05).At the level of low trait positive empathy,the effect of emotional starting is more obvious(F=10.39,p<0.01).3.Both trait Positive empathy and perspective-taking can effectively influence prosocial sharing behavior,moreover,trait positive empathy and perspective-taking have interactive effects on individuals' prosocial sharing behavior(F=4.30,p<0.05).At the level of low trait positive empathy,the effect of perspective-taking is more obvious(F=12.57,p<0.01).Conclusion: Trait positive empathy is significantly positively correlated with prosocial behavior tendency.Emotional starting and perspective-taking can effectively increase the generation of prosocial behavior,and this effect is more obvious at the low level of trait positive empathy.
