Prosocial behavior has a positive effect on human adaptation and progress,and is also an important sign of individual social development.The relationship between empathy and prosocial behavior has always been the focus of attention of psychologists.In recent years,with the rise of aesthetic psychology,research has found that aesthetic feeling can affect individuals' prosocial behavior,and they are also closely related to empathy.In addition,the study shows that empathy is not only a stable personality trait,but also influenced by environmental factors.It can be induced in specific situations,so that individuals with similar empathy traits are in different empathy states.Therefore,the former is called trait empathy,and the latter is called state empathy.There are both differences and connections between them.Individuals with high trait empathy are more likely to induce state empathy in specific situations,and state empathy training can improve individual empathy ability.Therefore,the study of prosocial behavior should not only consider the individual factors,but also combine the situational factors.However,there is no systematic empirical study on the relationship among aesthetic feeling,empathy and prosocial behavior.College students are the new force of national construction and the successor of socialist modernization.The spiritual outlook of college students determines the future of the motherland.It is of great practical significance to study college students' aesthetic feeling,empathy and prosocial behavior.This study uses a combination of questionnaires and experiments to explore the impact of college students' aesthetic feeling on prosocial behavior and the role of empathy in them.Research 1 uses questionnaires to measure 343 students in a university in Shanghai to investigate the relationship among college students' aesthetic feeling,trait empathy,and prosocial behavior.Research 2 uses two behavior experiments to further investigate the relationship among students' aesthetic feeling,state empathy and prosocial behavior(cooperative behavior and helping behavior).In Experiment 1,121 college students were recruited for a fee,of which 61 were in the high aesthetic feeling group and 60 were in the low aesthetic feeling group.They were randomly divided into the state empathy induction group and the state empathy control group.The state empathy refers to the situation induction method,providing the subjects with stories and pictures,and giving different instructions to induce the state empathy,and then let the subjects do a prisoner's dilemma game.The experiment uses 2(college students' aesthetic feeling level: high aesthetic feeling / low aesthetic feeling)× 2(state empathy level: induced state empathy / control state empathy)design between subjects.The dependent variable is the proportion of cooperation,to explore the influence of College Students' aesthetic feeling on cooperative behavior in Prosocial behavior under the role of state empathy.Compared with Experiment 1,Experiment 2 only changed the dependent variable,measured the donation amount of the participants through the help dictator game,and explored the influence of college students' aesthetic feeling on the help behaviors of prosocial behaviors under the influence of state empathy.Research indicates:1.College students 'aesthetic feeling and trait empathy can positively predict prosocial behavior.Trait empathy plays a part of the mediating role between college students' aesthetic feeling and prosocial behavior.2.For cooperative behavior,only the main effect of state empathy was significant,and the prosocial behavior of the state empathy induced group was significantly higher than that of the state empathy control group.3.For helping behavior,the main effect of College Students' aesthetic feeling level is significant,and the donation amount of high aesthetic feeling group is significantly higher than that of low aesthetic feeling group.The main effect of state empathy level was significant,and the donation amount of state empathy induced group was significantly higher than that of state empathy control group.The interaction between the level of College Students' aesthetic feeling and the level of state empathy is significant.Under the condition of controlled state empathy,the donation amount of high aesthetic feeling group is significantly higher than that of low aesthetic feeling group,while under the condition of induced state empathy,the difference between the two groups is not significant,that is,inducing the state empathy of individuals with low aesthetic feeling promotes their prosocial behavior,reducing the difference in helping behaviors of individuals with low aesthetic feeling and those with high aesthetic feeling under the condition of induced state empathy.State empathy plays a key role in college students' aesthetic feeling and prosocial behavior.This study combines college students' aesthetic feeling with empathy,comprehensively examines their impact on prosocial behavior and the mechanism of action,and enriches the research content of prosocial behavior.
