The Ten-Year Development Plan For Education Informatization(2011-2020),released by the ministry of education in March 2011,calls for the exploration and establishment of a new learner-centered teaching model.Flipped classroom,as a new type of teaching mode,reverses the two learning stages of imparting and internalizing knowledge learning,that is,“students are active inquirers but no longer passive recipients” and “teaching is an interaction instead of indoctrination”.The flipped classrooms have also attracted the attention of university researchers in China,who have begun to conduct in-depth discussions from multiple perspectives.“Cloud Class” provides a relatively complete operational model for the flipped classroom and achieves a deep integration of information technology and teaching.The flipped college English classroom supported by Cloud Class has brought about a structural change in teaching.Based on the constructivism theory,the autonomous learning theory,and the input hypothesis theory,this thesis aims to explore the flipped classroom teaching model applied in college English classroom,in which Cloud Class is used as an information-based teaching platform,where the mobile phone is converted into a teaching tool for teachers and students to carry out classroom activities,feedback,and evaluation.This research aims to explore the influence of the learners' course participation in the flipped college English classroom based on Cloud Class,the students' perceptions of the flipped classroom teaching mode,and the impact of the flipped classroom teaching mode on college students' English scores based on Cloud Class.This study observed two classes of non-English majors and designated one the control class and the other the experimental class after a pre-test.The control class was taught with the traditional teaching mode,while the experimental class uses a flipped classroom mode suitable for this teaching experiment,that is,a flipped classroom teaching mode based on Cloud Classes.The three research questions were explored through a survey,statistical analysis,and interviews.The Data from the questionnaire survey,interviews,and Cloud Class shows that the flipped college Englishclass using Cloud Class has significantly improved learner participation in the course,student participation in the experimental class was significantly higher than the control class,and student's participation also affects students' English performance.The results of the survey and interviews show that students' attitudes towards the use of the flipped classroom model in an English course were positive,and students accepted this teaching model.What's more,this also improves students' learning initiative.By analyzing and comparing the results of the pre-test and the post-test,which indicated that the flipped college English class based on Cloud Class had significantly improved the English performance and learning abilities of the learners.This study proves the feasibility and effectiveness of applying the flipped classroom teaching model based on Cloud Class in college English.At the same time,the author hopes this study can provide some reference for future studies in the online-offline teaching and teaching software.
