In the 1970 s,as a result of the in-depth influence of the western feminist movement in cultural aspect and the emergence and development of “cultural turn” in translation studies, feminist translation theory came into being. This theory aims at maintaining the status of women in translation process. From the perspective of women, this theory is against the traditional concept of patriarchy and dualism in traditional translation, this theory speaks for women. With the continuous emergence of new translation ideas, the role of translators in the process of translation had been paid more and more attention by translation scholars. As a new hot spot in the field of translation studies, the translator's subjectivity regards the translators as a key point of the translation process and pays attention to the translator's personal factors and their own characteristics. In the relevant strategies and practices of feminist translation theory, the translator's subjectivity has been fully reflected.“Rewriting” in the feminist translation theory is a positive intervention in translator's subjectivity in the process of translation. In the translated versions of many literary works, people can find the corresponding cases involving the translators' subjectivity of feminist translators.Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov,is a masterpiece of great literary value. This book involves moral, historical, psychological, philosophical and other aspects, and has rich cultural connotation and practical significance. There are many translated versions of this novel in China, which are worth studying. In this researching context, the main researching questions about this thesis are how did female translator use feminist translation theory to exert her translator's subjectivity? What are the differences between the female translated versions and the male translated versions? Can a female translator give full and proper play to her translator's subjectivity in translation process of a male original work and speak for women? The author of this thesis takes two Chinese versions of Lolita as the researching objects, and uses some methods such as data collection and close reading of the texts. From the perspective of aesthetic tastes and gender cognition, the author makes acomparative study of the two Chinese versions in terms of vocabulary, sentence and context.Through the comparative study, the author of this thesis finds that there are several differences between female translator and male translator in the aesthetic aspect and gender cognition aspect of linguistic dimension. These differences are reflected on the application of their respective translators' subjectivity. In terms of the aesthetic aspect, the female translator's translation is beautiful and poetic, which is in sharp contrast to the male translator's direct and over rational translation. In the aspect of gender cognition, the female translator's version rewrites the original text with the feminist translation methods, opposes the linguistic discrimination against women in the original version, and maintains the status of women. However, sometimes gender inequality is reflected on male translator's version. This study also demonstrates the positive effects of feminist translation theory on translator's subjectivity and translation process, and shows the “degree” of translator's subjectivity. In terms of the academic value, this paper fully embodies the feminist translators' sparks of thought through the comparative analysis. To a certain degree, this thesis makes a supplementary research for the studies of the translated versions of Lolita in the feminist translation perspective. This thesis clarifies the relationship between the feminist translation theory and translators' subjectivity, helps to analyze the influence of the translators' gender elements on the translated versions of literary works. This thesis illustrates the balance between the application and the “degree” of the feminist translators' subjectivity. In terms of the application value,to a certain extent, this thesis appeals people to pay attention to the translation work of female translators, and promotes the whole academic field and the whole society to focus on feminist views and women's status.
