Under the background of information globalization and cultural globalization,English writing is widely used to transfer knowledge and information.As an indispensable tool for people's daily work,communication and exchange,the importance of English practical writing is self-evident.Therefore,practical writing is also the focus and difficulty of English Writing Teaching in senior high school.However,at present,there are still some problems.Teachers pay attention to the teaching of grammar and vocabulary,ignoring the inspiration and guidance to students.The low participation of students,the lack of interest and active thinking cannot achieve the purpose of practical writing.The emergence of multimodal teaching method breaks this situation.This teaching method uses the external video,sound and other symbol resources to combine the students' hearing,vision and other senses,presents information and conveys meaning in a comprehensive and multi-level way,so as to make students understand the content of writing vividly,enhance the cooperation between teachers and students,make students directly contact with the discourse situation,improve students' interest in learning,and let students learn what to write,how to write.In view of this,based on the new English curriculum standard of senior high school,this study applies multimodal teaching method to senior high school English practical writing teaching,trying to verify whether multimodal teaching method can improve students' writing attitude and improve students' practical writing level,in order to provide practical teaching methods for senior high school English teachers in future English practical writing teaching.It is of great significance to combine theory with practice.Therefore,based on the theories of social semiotics and multimodal discourse analysis,the author uses the methods of experiment,questionnaire,interview and text analysis to explore the application of multimodal teaching method in senior high school English teaching of practical writing.In this thesis,133 students from two parallel classes of senior one in a middle school in Harbin are selected as the research objects.One class is randomly selected as the experimental class,and the multimodal teaching method is used to conduct a 14-week teaching research.The other is used as the control class,and the traditional teaching method is used for teaching.Before and after the experiment,the author collected data with writing test and Senior High School English Practical Writing State Scale,and made statistical analysis with SPSS25.0,assisted by interview and writing text analysis,and finally came to a conclusion.The results show that: first,multimodal teaching method can improve students' attitude towards practical writing to a certain extent,which is reflected in the three dimensions of writing preference,writing perception and writing process;second,multimodal teaching method can effectively improve students' English practical writing level,effectively promote the innovation of students' writing content,and improve students' construction of discourse,cultivate the students' reader awareness and improve their writing performance.In addition,based on this experiment,the author expounds the teaching enlightenment,and provides reference suggestions and implementation precautions for the application of multimodal teaching method in senior high school English teaching of practical writing.
