Homework is closely related to English course and teaching.It is a key area to the national curriculum reform,an important way to reduce students' burden and increase teaching efficiency.It's also an effective extension of classroom teaching.Therefore,as a member of front-line teachers,when paying attention to students' English learning,we should not only focus on English teaching.We should fully understand the relationship between homework and teaching,the function of homework,and pay attention to the optimization and integration of English homework.Based on the background above,the author puts forward three research questions,which are as follows: first,the elements and important values contained in the design of English homework;Second,the status quo,problems and causes of English homework;Third,measures of optimization and integration we can take.Focusing on these three questions,the author firstly adopts literature research method to carry out a detailed investigation.Secondly,under the guidance of constructivist learning theory,multiple intelligence theory and "zone of proximal development" theory,the author conducts a detailed survey on the status quo of English homework by using student questionnaires and teacher interviews.The survey of the students,mainly through 10 objective multiple choice questions,we need to understand the students' attitude and views on English and homework,including the time,amount,type,difficulty,evaluation methods of students' homework and so on.The interview survey of teachers mainly includes the function,type,time,difficulty,integration of teachers' idea and other questions through 10 essay questions,verifying most of the conclusions of the students' questionnaires,and providing important references for the cause analysis work in the next step.According to the survey results,there are five main problems.First,the design of operation objectives lacks integrity and systematic;secondly,the quantity of work lacks planning and balance;thirdly,the difficulty of homework lacks hierarchy;Fourth,the task content design lacks diversity and design;fifth,the design of subject integrationlacks diversification.In view of these problems,the author sorts out and analyzes the interview records of teachers to find out the corresponding reasons.First,teachers have a limited understanding of homework functions.Second,teachers lack of consideration for students' homework psychology.Thirdly,teachers are blind to the differences between students.Fourthly,the teacher's homework design ability is insufficient;Fifthly,teachers do not pay enough attention to the integration of subject knowledge.According to the attribution analysis,the author puts forward the principle of homework optimization and integration: target and direction,effectiveness and challenge,difference and flexibility,interest and diversity,combining oral and written work,etc.These principles point out the direction for the formulation of specific optimization and integration measures.The author thinks that the following measures can be taken to realize the optimization and integration of operations.First,change the original concept of homework;second,understand the differences between students;third,provide a variety of homework options to meet the needs of students at different levels;fourth,enhance the ability of homework design;fifth,improve the level of discipline integration and promote the diversified development of students.Finally,the author divides the assignments into four types: basic,integrated,practical and developmental homework.In conclusion,through this study,the author hopes to change teachers' concept of homework design,enhance their concept of homework design,fundamentally stimulate students' interest and motivation in English homework,achieve the purpose of reducing the burden and increasing the effect,form a good and harmonious relationship between teachers and students,and develop students' comprehensive language application ability.
