The Ministry of Education promulgated the new “Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards” in 2011.Since then,the design and evaluation of primary school English homework has become an important way to develop the learning habit,receive feedback from teaching.Finding out problems from English homework and giving suggestion have become the important issue that primary school of English teachers must solve out.According to the result of questionnaire survey and interviews,we found that 83.15% of students can complete English homework within 1 hour every day,73.84% of students think the quantity of homework is acceptable,64.52% of students believe that the difficulty of English homework is moderate,and students think written homework is the most important.71.68% of the students respond that there is not difference in their homework,and it is difficult to measure the development of each student.26.52% of students think that the form of homework is simple and the content is not interesting.82.08% of students believe that teachers correct homework hard,and most teachers correct homework in time.40.50% of students liked that teachers directly pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of their homework through written comments.88.24% of teachers consolidate what they have learned is the most important.82.35% of teachers will choose the original set of exercises or some exercises on the teaching materials or tutorial materials.83.25% of teachers mainly arranged written assignments,and 47.06% chose oral assignment.41.35% of teachers have done all or most of the homework themselves.58.82% of teachers expect students to complete English homework within 30-45 minutes.Therefore,there are four problems from the design of English homework in senior elementary school: the task volume is relatively large,the proportion of mechanically repetitive tasks is large,the static text task occupies the main position,the task correction subject is simple,and the evaluation method is single.We gave four suggestions according to this issue: Firstly,take the core value system as the criterion,break through simple text-based assignments,respect individual different ability of students,and improve the diversity of homework.Secondly,in order to improve the quality and effect of English homework supervision,school administrators,teachers,parents and students should pay attention to the regulation and supervision of the implementation process of English homework.Thirdly,guide students to evaluate each other in groups or find out the language problems from their homework,and establish a diverse learning feedback mechanism.Fourthly,guide students to check the learning effect through scientific and reasonable evaluation,clarify the blind spots of learning,and gradually and solidly study.
