A Study On Hsi-shan Bamboo Stove Elegant Gathering And Its Literary Writing

Ming-Qing Dynasty is the golden period for the development of Chinese elegent gathering,especially in the south of the Yangtze River Region(Jiangnan).The Bamboo Stove Elegant Gathering(Chu-Lu ya-chi)which is one of the most representative of the typical cases during this period.The Bamboo Stove Elegant Gathering was a literary gathering initiated by monk Hsi-shan and painter Wang Fu at the Hui-shan tempel.It was one of the most celebrated historical events of Wu-his.Six large-scale literary gatherings continued throughout the Ming and Qing periods around the gain and loss and reproduction of Hsi-shan bamboo stove.As an extension of the bamboo stove elegant collection,the tea making in bamboo stove and tea drinking and chanting had become a common art gathering activity among scholars in the Ming and Qing dynasties,until the prosperity of the republic of China remained.Numerous poems,calligraphys and paintings on this them were produced throughout the Ming and Qing periods,most of these works are reserved in the Illustrations of bamboo stove.Different from the traditional elegent gathering form,Hsi-shan bamboo stove elegant gathering presents new characteristics with its flexibility in location,personnel and stability in utensils and connotation.The study of Hsi-shan bamboo stove elegant gathering is an attempt to explore this kind of elegant collection form which we know little about now.In this paper,the construction process and inheritance mode of Hsi-shan bamboo stove elegant gathering in time and space are summed up with Chu-Lu poetry and painting as the center,in order to deepen the understanding of the elegant collection.In addition,this paper explores the role of literary activities in the formation of literary landscape by analyzing the evolution process from the common monk house to the famous literary landscape in Hsi-shan tingsong'an,the place where the bamboo stove elegent gathering originated.The paper is divided into three chapters.In the first chapter,the background of the bamboo stove elegant gathering is introduced from three aspects: the development of Jiangnan elegant gathering,the literary geography of Hsi-shan,the place where the bamboo stove elegant collection started,and the communication between the monks in His-shan temple and literati.The second chapter introduces the the history of the six bamboo stove elegant gathering from monk His-hai to Emperor Ch'ien-lung.In the third chapter,from the perspective of poetry,painting and landscape,we explore the characteristics of Chu-Lu poetry,Chu-Lu painting and Hsi-shan landscape,as well as the interaction between them.
