A Study On The Guanyin Belief Of I-Kuan Tao In Taiwan

Guanyin belief has been an integral part of the content of Folk Religion,since the beginning of Folk Religion in the Ming and Qing dynasties.During the missionary period of the eighth master Luo Wei Qun of I-Kuan Tao,Guanyin belief entered its belief system.From Luo Wei Qun to Wang Jue yi who was the 15 th master of of I-Kuan Tao,formally founded the modern I-Kuan Tao,Guanyin belief has been an important belief content within his sect,until the present Taiwan I-Kuan Tao.The performance of Guanyin belief in I-Kuan Tao in Taiwan is mainly concentrated in the deities system,ceremony,religious space,ancestral pedigree of I-Kuan Tao.The appearance of the Wushenglaomu who is the supreme god I-Kuan Tao is closely related to Guanyin belief.Guanyin is also believed to be the main god who have been sent to the world by Wushenglaomu,to save humanity with the Mile and Jigong at the end of the third period.In the ceremony and religious space of I-Kuan Tao,Guanyin is the object of worship.It is believed that Guanyin is in the lineage of the ancestors of I-Kuan Tao.Guanyin,who once incarnated as an ancestor or other important figure of his sect,often appeared on the altar in the way of Fuluan,and gave instructions to the believers.Through the mouth of Guanyin,it is mainly Confucian ethical principles,and it is mainly concerned with female practitioners.In the practice life of I-Kuan Tao believers,there is also the connection between Guanyin and the entrance ceremony such as opening the gateway,which has produced a new understanding of Guanyin belief.And there is a trend that the Buddhist color of Guanyin is gradually desalinated in I-Kuan Tao.
