A Study On Music Economy Of Yuan Dynasty

The Yuan Dynasty was the first unified dynasty established by ethnic minorities in Chinese history.The social environment of multi-ethnic coexistence formed the unique "Mongolian-Chinese unity" of the Yuan Dynasty.Nomadic people entered the Central Plains and closely contacted and interacted with the traditional farming civilization,forming a unique "combination of agriculture and commerce" in the Yuan Dynasty.Although the Mongolian rulers implemented the Han law,traditional Confucian scholars had to stay away from the officialdom,either in seclusion and depression,or forced to make a living,flocking to the social class that they had once "disdained" to protect the social status of Mongolia and ethnic minorities such as semu,which objectively contributed to the unique "harmony between the scholars and the people" of the Yuan dynasty.The Yuan Dynasty music is an objective reflection of these unique social phenomena,which promoted the integration of the traditional ritual music system of the Central Plains and the old customs of the Mongolians in this period.It led to the production of music in this period mainly by literati and musicians,and the consumption mainly by aristocrats and merchants.In addition,it led to the unprecedented development and growth of opera music in this period.This paper focuses on the multi-ethnic and multi-religious period of Yuan Dynasty,and combines the historical development of music with the development of social economy by applying the relevant theories and methods of music sociology and art economics.Starting from texts and archaeological historical materials,and taking music production activities as the premise,this paper studies the phenomenon of music economic development in this period,explores the process of music production and consumption,and analyzes the characteristics of music production and consumption,non-commercial and commercial characteristics under the guidance of different places and modes of production in Yuan Dynasty.It further summarizes the internal laws and causes of music production and consumption in this period,and tries to summarize the dialectical relationship between music development and social and economic development.Through the research,this paper holds the view that monasteries active participation in the commercial music economy,and the diversified marketing methods of music products provided an effective service mode for the social entity economy of Yuan Dynasty.In addition,the cooperation between literati and musicians in this period provided market-oriented guidance and promotion for the development of opera music.
