A Practice Report On The Chinese Translation Of “Electroencephalography Reflects The Activity Of Sub-cortical Brain Regions During Approach-withdrawal Behaviour While Listening To Music”

As one of the most cutting-edge and active disciplines in scientific research,cognitive neuroscience is an interdisciplinary area focusing on the application of neuroscience knowledge in areas such as computer science,psychology,social sciences etcetra.To guarantee the steady progress of China’s cognitive neuroscience,it is necessary to grasp the leading technologies and trends in international cognitive neuroscience field.Thus,high attention should be paid to the translation of cognitive neuroscience research from English to Chinese.With the application of cognitive load theory,this report mainly discusses the Chinese translation of Electroencephalography reflects the activity of sub-cortical brain regions during approach-withdrawal behaviour while listening to music.Based on extraneous and intrinsic cognitive load,the paper looks into key points and difficulties in the translation and provides corresponding translation strategies and techniques.Under the guidance of extraneous cognitive load,the translator used division of isolated-interacting elements,amplification of terms,domestication of special words and omission of redundancy effect.Under the guidance of intrinsic cognitive load,conversion of punctuations and voices,logical explicitation and explanation of pronouns are applied.The translation practice explores parts of characteristics of EST,translation strategies as well as translation techniques by case analysis.On the other hand,it aims to provide thoughts for the English-Chinese translation of cognitive neuroscience.
