At the beginning of the 20 th century,Chinese design education pioneers who study abroad return home with the important design education system,teaching model and design education thought of Japan,France and other countries.Because of the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japan,universities and colleges transfered to inland areas,which prompted a large number of craft artists and educators gathered in the southwest to carry out educational practice.In this period,the national intellectuals actively sought for self-worth,explored complicated overlapping relationship of art education such as fine arts,pattern design,applied art and design.Sichuan Art Junior College is an important university in southwest China during the Anti-Japanese War.It has become the position of design education practice through the renaming of China Craft Society,Chengdu Advanced Craft Vocational School and Sichuan Provincial Technology And Art College.Design education pioneers set the target of revitalizing the traditional craft and training practical design talent here,planning direction for design education of China.During the period of the Sichuan Provincial Technology And Art College,the school set up the school magazine Technology and Art as the research and propaganda position of the design education thought.The purpose of this paper is to restore the appearance of design education practice in Sichuan Provincial Technology And Art College in the early 1940 s through the research of historical materials,to sort out the design education system and the background of the dual learning sources of the Provincial Technology And Art College from the three issue of Technology and Art,and to find the ideal and initial heart of the pioneers of design education.This paper is divided into seven parts.Chapter 1 is the introduction,mainly discusses the research status,research methods and research significance of the topic,based on the school magazine Technology and Art as the historical data,restore the design practice of Provincial Technology And Art College,think that the research of Technology and Art can fill the gap of the early 40 s Chinese art college journal research;Chapter 2 reviews the development history of Provincial Technology And Art College,and analyzes the basic content of three issues Technology and Art,interprets the meaning behind the title and combs the basic teaching situation of teachers;Chapter 3 expounds the main ideas of design education from three aspects: design education curriculum structure,pattern teaching and folk craft investigation;Chapter 4 mainly discusses the two sources of design education thought in Provincial Technology And Art College;Chapter 5 discusses the national destiny and design ideal behind " technology " and " art " in Provincial Technology And Art College;Chapter 6 focuses on the follow-up influence of design education thought in Provincial Technology And Art College;In the conclusion part,the author reviews the content of Technology and Art and confirms its significance and value.The school magazine Technology and Art is a precious school materials,a design education practice map,a communication platform for teachers and students,it records little by little reflects the attitude and ideas of school-running of Sichuan Provincial Technology And Art College,it reflects the combination of "technology" and "art" of design education purpose,which has the modern significance and pioneering value.Through Technology and Art,we can see the collision between tradition and modern and the combination of east and west,and design education of China opened a new chapter in the southwest.
