Eco-translatology is a translation theory proposed by Hu Geng shen. Its studies on translation activities are taken comprehensively from the perspective of ecology.Based on Darwin's theory of “adaptation and selection”,this theory explains translation activities, pointing out that translators are restricted by "ecological environment" in the process of translation, and need to use "three-dimensional"(language dimension, cultural dimension, communicative dimension)transformation to attain high-quality translations to accept the "survival of the fittest" of ecological translation environment.Ecological translation theory, based on ecology, applies the theories of linguistics,translation,sociology,cross-cultural communication and other disciplines comprehensively, and reaches more scientific and convincing conclusions through interdisciplinary comprehensive analysis and demonstration.Based on the ecological translation as a theoretical guidance, the essay takes the translation of culture-loaded words in Jenner's English version of Journey to the West as the object, using examples, description, and comparison to make a more comprehensive analysis and study on culture-loaded words,by which the paper is aiming to explore the translator's selection and adaptation of the ecological environment under different dimensions,to investigate whether it has the feasibility and theoretical guidance in the study of classical literature through the application of ecological translation on the book, and to put forward reasonable strategy on translation of culture-loaded words. The research shows that ecological translation theory can be applied to and guide the translation of culture-loaded words. The translator Jenner adopts a combination of various translation methods to adapt to the ecological environment of the source language. His translation is faithful to the original language, and can accurately convey the information of the original language, and can also take into account the needs of readers of the target language,so as to adapt to the ecological environment of the target language.Under the language dimension adaptation,Jenner adopts transliteration, literal translation and other methods to restore the characteristics of the source language from the aspects of grammar, language structure and source language culture.Under the cultural dimension adaptation selection,he adopts literal translation, transliteration, free translation, amplification, foreignization and domestication to realize the bilingual and bicultural adaptation selection.Under the selection and adaptation of communicative dimension,he adopts literal translation, free translation, omission and substitution, taking into account the dual characteristics of source language and target language. In the actual translation activities, the three dimensions of language, culture and communication influence and depend on each other. In many cases, the translation of culture-loaded words needs to be combined with different dimensions. In addition, the theory of ecological translation still has theoretical guidance in the translation of other classical Chinese literary works, and translators can properly use the "three-dimensional" transformation to achive high-quality translations and spread excellent Chinese culture.
