The New Curriculum Standards advocate the reform of grammar teaching,and put higher requirements on grammar teaching,which combines the form,meaning and the use of language so that students can apply what they have learned to practice.At present,grammar teaching in junior middle schools in China still adopts the traditional teaching mode.Teachers explain the grammar points in a boring way,and students memorize the grammar rules mechanically.In order to solve these problems,this study integrates situational teaching into grammar teaching,aiming at cultivating students' interest in learning and improving their comprehensive language ability.This study takes cognitive intuitive principle,humanistic theory and constructivist theory as the guiding ideology,discusses the feasibility and practicability of the situational teaching method,and intends to answer three research questions: 1)What kind of influence does situational grammar teaching have on cultivating students' interest in grammar learning? 2)What role does situational grammar teaching play in improving students' grammar ability and level? 3)Which advantages does situational grammar teaching have in memorizing grammar rules?The author selected 90 students from two parallel classes(experimental class and control class)in eighth grade of Chang Sheng Junior High School as the research objects.The experimental class(EC)adopts situational grammar teaching and the control class(CC)adopts traditional grammar teaching.The research methods include pre-test,post-test,questionnaire and classroom observation.The study found that: firstly,the application of situational teaching approach in junior middle school English grammar teaching can effectively arouse students' interest in grammar learning.Secondly,the application of situational teaching method in junior middle school English grammar teaching changes students' understanding and learning mode of English grammar learning,helps them internalize grammar knowledge,and improves their grammar learning ability and application ability of specific grammar items.Thirdly,the application of situational teaching in grammar teaching is more effective than traditional grammar teaching in improving students' ability to remember grammar knowledge.This study breaks the traditional way of English grammar teaching grammar teaching in junior middle school English,which has a certain enlightening effect on grammar teaching in the new situation.However,there are still some shortcomings,such as the limitation of experiment time and the uneven learning level and ability of students,which affect the objectivity of the research results.Therefore,future research is expected to overcome the adverse factors and further integrate situational teaching method into English grammar teaching to meet the requirements of the new curriculum reform.
