A Study On Contents Source And Historical Value Of The Historical Materials Of Yanzhou

The Historical Materials of Yanzhou is a compilation of historical materials that recorded the history of Ming Dynasty.In terms of contents sources,there is a view that all the chapters originated from Four Manuscripts of Yanzhou Hermit,Continued Manuscripts of Yanzhou Hermit and the anthology of Yanshantang.Thus,it is just considered as a collection of historical materials of Wang Yanzhou.Another takes it containing a small part of secret works that never be discovered so that no accepted origin and research appeared by far.This thesis tries to make an innovative and systematic examination of The Historical Materials of Yanzhou and finds that 866(co-existence)stems from Wang Shizhen's works.The chapters is listed as follows: 113 from Four Manuscripts of Yanzhou Hermit,114 from Continued Manuscripts of Yanzhou Hermit and639 from the anthology of Yanshantang.Furthermore,162 essays come from somewhere else.Only 89 of these articles are found in The Historical Materials of Yanzhou and 73 exist in The Historical Materials of Yanzhou and other works as well.Based on current study this thesis compares the contents of The Historical Materials of Yanzhou and other works,finding that there are various of differences with regard to titles,contents and structure of the articles.To sum up,The Historical Materials of Yanzhou is an exquisite,independent and integrated work edited rigorously by Dong Fubiao instead of a simple synthetic replica.The richness and authenticity of its history materials can not only broaden the effective channels to study Wang Shizhen's historiography but also provide a reliable reference for a comprehensive and in-depth study of the Ming Dynasty's history.As an exploration of Wang Shizhen's historical achievements,this thesis willenrich the research of The Historical Materials of Yanzhou.
