I believed that it has to do with their learning in the early years, therefore it is a good place to start.Since I was not certain about how it being implemented in kindergarten(or preschool)in China, therefore I did an ethnographic observation for several months at several kindergarten around Shanghai,as well as being involve in teaching several English classes to build up the understanding on the research subject. However, the instructional learning material available in the kindergarten dissatisfy my eagerness to research.Besides not having systematic syllabus for English study, the material used are not thoroughly revised to be taught to the children.Having said that, this is also opens up an opportunity to conduct a study on the instructional material that are commonly used in the kindergarten for their English learning.Since time are limited aspect for this study, only alphabet cards will be use among other instructional materials.Alphabet card being the most common visual material used to teach young children(2-5years old)the English alphabet letters. The aim of the article is to improve the visual design of the Chinese children's Alphabet card education system, through cognitive research and design practice so that it can dynamically interact with students in the language classroom, and can be used as a motivational tool to enhance children's English learning. This study investigated how children learn English, also tested and compared the effectiveness of teaching materials with different design of the alphabet card as early childhood English alphabet teaching. The study object is limited to children whose mother tongue is Chinese.Participants are 80 children and 6 teachers from three regions of Shanghai. The participants were 80 primary school students and 6 assistant from three regions in Shanghai: Minhang District,New Pudong District,Jingan District.Kids Parents responded respectively to the request for English teaching visual research classes in their children preschool institute.Nearly 95% of the students didn't have English learning experience before entering the primary school and about 5% of them experienced English learning through the parents home education.According to the principle of visual design of Gestalt,Double Coding Theory,Multimedia learning Theory and Cognitive load Theory, multiple sets of letters cards were designed and tested. The results from the design survey feedback of the Anova and Tukey's test range analysis clearlied that letter card design is effective.
