An Ecocritical Comparative Study Of Thomas Hardy And Shen Congwen

Shen Congwen and Thomas Hardy are both representative literary figures in the world.Although they live in different times,they are both eulogists of nature,humanity,truth,goodness and beauty.The 21 st century is an ecological century.Inspired by ecological criticism,this paper attempts to make a comparative study of Shen Congwen and Hardy from the perspective of ecological criticism.This article is divided into three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.It compares the creation and thoughts of the two literary giants in combination with ecological criticism theory.The introduction part mainly sorts out the current research situation of ecological criticism of the two writers in the academic circle,introduces the origin,definition and main viewpoints of ecological criticism,points out the feasibility and innovation of interpreting Hardy's works with the theory of ecological criticism,and clarifies the significance of this thesis.The text is divided into four chapters.The first chapter explains the ecological resonance between Shen Congwen and Hardy.In their works,the two writers emphasize the harmonious coexistence between man and nature,and spare no effort to eulogize the truth,goodness and beauty of nature,humanity,and life.Of a lonely complex.With the development and progress of society,the industrialization process has caused pollution and damage to the ecological environment.Shen Congwen and Hardy have shown similar ecological concerns in their works.They are concerned about the weak ecology of the village and the destruction and imbalance of the original ecology of the village.The second chapter explains the different ecological pursuits of the two.Whether it is the creation of the two literary worlds,or the return from the spirit or the body,it shows different ecological pursuits.The third chapter mainly explores the source of Shen Congwen and Hardy's different ecological views.Shen Congwen's ecological view is formed by his sublime and promotion of life value and influenced by Lao Zhuang's philosophy.Hardy's love of nature and Return and influence by Darwin's theory of evolution and modern thought.The fourth chapter is a brief study of the significance of Shen Congwen and Hardy in the perspective of ecological criticism.Shen Congwen and Hardy's concern and outstanding expressionon ecological issues have provided rich resources and useful reference for ecological criticism.The affirmation and recognition of their natural role fully reflect people's internal needs for a harmonious living state,express their yearning for a harmonious living state,show their valuable ecological sense of responsibility and conscious criticism of civilization,and urge people to think about various ecological relationships from the perspective of love and goodness.With the frequent occurrence of ecological crises in the fields of nature,society,spirit,and culture,tapping the ecological connotations conveyed by Shen Congwen and Hardy,and summing up the ecological significance of his works can provide an alternative way to save such crises.
