Twenty century is a rapidly developing period of science and modern material civilization. However, on the way striding forward to the material civilization, human beings have been transforming and utilizing the nature with the help of modern scientific technology, and anthropocentrism becomes the main world outlook, resulting in the complete separation of relationship between human and nature, followed by all kinds of crises of natural ecology and dissimilation of survival condition and spiritual ecology of modern. It becomes an urgent issue for modern people to make proper and timely choices in the development of the material civilization. People have to face the crises of natural ecology, and rethink about the position of human in the nature as well as the relationship of human and nature. Being touched by the destroy of natural ecology, dissimilation of humanity caused by the material desire, and the losing of ethical standard, some Chinese prose writers in the New Period begin to focus their eyes on the creation of ecological literature with the strong influence of western ecological thought and the creation of ecological literature. The new period ecological literature themes on the exploration of current situation and the cause of ecological crisis, the relationship between human and the nature, and the life state of the whole nature ecology. A number of ecological literature writers emerges, such as Zhangwei, Wei’an, Han Shaogong, Liu liangcheng, Xugang,Zhou xiaogfeng, Liu Xianping, whose works are representative and have certain social impact.Ecology has become one of important themes of humanities and social sciences. Though the whole state of creation of Chinese ecological prose is not so mature, it is a doubtless fact that China has the ecological prose of its own, and it will be a new trend of ecological literature. With the help of improved ecological consciousness, ecological prose will be a designatum of Chinese literature’s future development, and it should cause our attention. This paper focuses on the inductive study about the spiritual meaning of the Chinese new period ecological prose by concrete analysis on the typical writers and their works, refining their ethical consciousness. The paper intents hopefully to touch off more people’s interest of study about ecological prose and to provide some enlightenment for the creation of ecological prose. And it would be the paper’s biggest value if it can do something to awaken people’s ecological consciousness thereby to change people’s mode of production and life.Besides the introduction and conclusion, the main body of the paper consists of four parts. The introduction discusses the origin of topic and the methods of study, and makes the definition of ecological prose, determining the scope of this paper. The first chapter discusses the reconstruction of the relationship between human and nature. By discussing the the relationship between man and nature in the text of ecological prose, it expounds the criticism of ecological prose to the past human-central world outlook and the reorientation of the relationship between human and nature. In the view of ecological prose writers, anthropocentrism brings science and technology top and unlimited expansion of human desire. The nature has become in a disastrous state in the command and control of human, and the relationship between human and nature is in urgent need of repositioning. In the perspective of ecology, nature is the mother of all things, and human beings are part of nature. Human beings should establish the reverence for nature, cherish and guard nature. The second chapter studies the ecological prose’s moral concern on the lifes in the nature except human beings. Through the analysis of the new interpretation of the ecological prose writers to their life status and life value, and the display of their living conditions, the life consciousness of the ecological prose is analyzed. Ecological prose writers think that all the lives in the nature are the same. Like human,“they” are the sons of nature,completely independent and vivid, having the rights to exist in natural way and to be respected. The third chapter makes a general summary on ecological ethics thought of the ecological prose. It concludes that the ecological holism view and bioethics view are important thought resource of the rise of ecological prose, and the main concept of ecological ethics e established and advocated by the ecological prose. Ecological prose writers think that nature is a world where all life living in, a system completely separate from the human. The benefit of the whole ecosystem is above all, and it is the highest value to judge all the attitudes and behaviors. They extend the ethics laws which originally only applicable to human to the whole natural world, conform the natural ecological ethics, concern the lives ethically. Only by establishing ecological holism view and bioethics view, can we reconstruct the harmonious coexistence of human and nature. The fourth chapter discusses the ecological prose writers’ desire for the ecological harmony and the perfection of the self ecological personality by analyzing the description of the harmonious state of natural ecology and the ecological practice of ecological prose writers. Only by returning to nature actively, really merging into the nature through labor, truly feeling the nature, reducing the consumption demands, being a natural son, can we experience the beauty of nature and life, and reach a state of ecological harmony finally.The ecological prose in the new period is essentially anti-human centric. It takes the natural ecological holistic view as ultimate purpose, thinking the relationship between nature and human, excavating the social root of the ecological crisis, setting up the consciousness of ecological ethics, promoting the life style returning to nature, and building a good and harmonious ecological vision eventually. Ecological crisis is the most fundamental driving force for the ecological prose’s development and prosperity, and as a body of natural life, I hope this literary style gradually weakens, for its weakness indicates the harmony and vitality of the whole natural ecology, which is just the ideal of all the ecologists.
