In the first year of the reign of Emperor Huitong of Liao Dynasty(938),in exchange for helping Shi Jingtang to become emperor,Liao brought the Sixteen States of Yan-Yun into his arms.Since then, the geographical concept of the Sixteen States of Yan-Yun appeared in ancient Chinese history. After Yan-Yun 's entering the Liao Dynasty,Liao Dynasty immediately adopted the national policy of "governing for the custom",eliminating the national estrangement, adopting the policies of "advocating Confucianism" and "reusing the Han people",drawing up the upper scholars of the Han nationality, and implementing a relatively loose land tax policy for the lower people, finally winning the hearts of the people and realizing the successful rule of Yan-Yun area.Yan-Yun has the largest population of Han nationality, followed by Qidan nationality. The two main nationalities live together with Xi nationality,Bohai nationality,Jurchen nationality and other nationalities. The Central Plains culture and grassland culture converge here. Therefore,in the nearly 200 years of Qidan rule,Yan-Yun region has become the forefront of national integration.Ethnic integration provides fertile ground for the development and evolution of folk culture in Yan-Yun area. The folk custom of Yan-Yun formed under this background is very inclusive. There is a pluralistic and inclusive phenomenon of "Chinese and foreign common customs" in daily life, social customs, festival customs, etc.,which has both the elegant and profound side of Central Plains culture and the bold and open characteristics of nomadic culture Point, two kinds of folk culture have both and skillfully integrate, and draw on the strengths of all.The diverse folk customs in Yan-Yun area,on the one hand, promote the northern transmission of the Central Plains culture with Confucianism as the core.On the other hand, many folk customs have strong vitality, have passed the test of time, spread and influenced so far,and enrich the content and cultural connotation of Chinese folk customs.
