As an important medium that can describe the social situation,carry forward the national spirit and transfer the artistic value,the film is an indispensable form of communication and cultural content in the process of opening up.In the process of developing film industry,the Chinese mainland has also been trying to establish contact with other countries and regions constantly.Since 1979,China Film Co-Production Corporation,the first special organization in the Chinese mainland was approved by the Ministry of Culture to administer affairs relating to Chinese-foreign film co-productions,China’s film industry has been associated with other countries and regions in succession,and has actively invested in the films with creation typification,content diversification and vision diversification.Among them,co-productions of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong should also be in line with the inevitable trend of the development of the times,from the state of wandering and exploration to the current trend of co-productions.Besides,a very typical production mode has been sought in the process of its development,outlining the creative way that’s suitable to its own development.It is worth mentioning that under the joint efforts of many parties,the creators of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong have created many films with artistic and speculation together,which makes the Chinese film market grow vigorously.From the perspective of policy,type and industry,the paper attempts to elaborate on the development and changes of co-production of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong in the past 40 years.The introduction is mainly divided into four parts: research background,research status,research significance and research methods.After determining the concept and the scope of the co-production films in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong,the author reviewed the relevant research literature and clarified the specific research context and significance,so as to discuss better in the following parts.The first chapter of the paper mainly discusses the coproductions of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong from 1979 to 1989.Although the form of expression of the co-productions was relatively single at this stage and the main creators have not yet been involved in it,it could still be regarded as a cooperative exploration and ice-breaking trip.In other words,the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong began to cooperate with reform and opening up.The second chapter analyzes the co-productions of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong from 1990 to 2003.Due to Hollywood movies sweeping the world,the rapid arrival of TV media and other related factors,films of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong had gone through hardship then.Under such circumstances,both places have jointly created several high-quality works.The third chapter analyzes the co-productions of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong at the beginning of the new century,pointing out that the co-production of two places at this stage has actually embarked on the new industrial development.With the deepening of the cooperation,the quantity and quality of the co-productions in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong went hand in hand,which not only injects new power into the film market of the two places,but also lays a foundation for the establishment and prosperity of the brand of Chinese film.The fourth chapter summarizes the achievements of co-productions in the second decade after the new century.With the transformation of film industrialization in the Chinese mainland and the introduction of relevant policies such as CEPA,the co-productions of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong also make several breakthroughs,not only realizing the integration and cross-dressing in type,but also realizing the collision and blend in concept.With the number of co-productions continuing to increase,the film industry has enjoyed cultural integration,content sharing and system formation.The chapter five focuses on the future development of film cooperation between the two places.This paper points out the current creative difficulties and practical problems faced by the two places,finds out solutions on the basis of development,and determines that cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong is the general trend in the future.It can be said that the concept of "Chinese film" also demonstrate the charm in the mutual penetration and complementarity of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong,so as to build a Chinese film industry with international vision and regional cultural characteristics.Therefore,the co-productions of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong have made immeasurable contributions in promoting the prosperity of Chinese films.The co-productions not only create the brand of Chinese films and build up the market of Chinese films jointly,but also serve the national cultural strategy and transmit the voice of China to the world on the basis of cultural self-confidence and value recognition.
