A Research On Astronomical Chinese Characters Of ShuoWenJieZi

China is one of the earliest countries in the development of astronomy in the world.China has accumulated a wealth of valuable astronomical data for thousands of years.There are both astronomy books and dictionaries that saved abundant astronomical data,ShuoWenJieZi is one of them.ShuoWenJieZi(Hereinafter referred to as ShuoWen)holds an important status in the history of Chinese language philology,it is not only the first dictionary to analyze the shapes of Chinese characters,explain the meaning of Chinese characters,and recognize the pronunciation,but also an encyclopedia that reflects all aspects of ancient social life,science and technology,ideology and culture from the angle of Philology and Exegetics.It contains many Chinese characters that reflect astronomical phenomena from the ancient times to the Han Dynasty.Therefore,ShuoWenJieZi is valuable information for studying ancient astronomical phenomena.Astronomical Chinese characters in the ShuoWen not only reflect the phenomenon of ancient astronomy,but also embody the cognition of the sun,moon,stars,wind,rain,thunder and lightning.The paper selects the Chinese characters whose original meaning directly reflect ancient astronomical phenomena to gather,add up and collate,analyzes shape structure,combs meaning system,elucidates cognitive psychology and thinking mode of the ancients according to multi-discipline theory such as history,astronomy and culturology.The paper is mainly divided into the following parts: The first part is the introduction,which expounds the significance of the research,sums up the existing research results and present research situation,and delimits the research objects and methods.The second part is the shapestructure of astronomical Chinese characters in the ShuoWen,it mainly includes two aspects.Firstly,the author parses the official seal character of astronomical Chinese characters,there are pictographic character,ideographic character and pictophonetic character.This part emphasizes the function of phonetic symbols in pronunciation,the function of phonetic symbols in indicating original meaning and the function of hinting meaning of semantic symbol.The most important character-formation of astronomical Chinese characters is pictophonetic character,that consists of phonetic symbols and semantic symbols.Phonetic symbols can indicate the pronunciation of characters,and some phonetic symbols can hint original meaning.Semantic symbols can indicate original meaning.Semantic symbols have different ways of expression and the categorical semantic symbols is one of the main types.Secondly,the author analyzes the variant character of astronomical Chinese characters,its type and formation mode are involved.There are ZhouWen,GuWen and HuoTi,among which the proportion of GuWen is the largest.In terms of forming methods,This part mainly discusses similarities and differences of word-formation.The third part is about the meaning system of astronomical Chinese characters in the ShuoWen.In this part,the author build on XuShen's interpretation and the pertinent literature,the meaning system is divided into two categories: astronomy and meteorology.Each section is divided into more detailed sub-categories.The astronomy includes the sun and time interval,the moon and leap month,stars.The meteorology includes wind,precipitation,thunder and lightning,cloud,atmospheric optic phenomena and temperature.The fourth part is the traditional thinking mode of astronomical Chinese characters in the ShuoWen.According to the relevant literature,by analyzing the structure and meaning of Chinese characters,the author elucidates primitive thinking mode,integrated thinking mode,symbol thinking mode,cyclic variation thinking mode of Chinese characters.The fifth part is a conclusion,pointing out theresearch defects and the problems to be studied further.
