With the rapid development of "Internet +" network technology and the widespread application of "5G" mobile wireless technology,network cloud classroom and mobile learning have developed rapidly and the way people live and learn has changed dramatically.The combination of "Internet +" and education has gradually become a powerful driving force for the modernization of education.With the popularity of smart phones,mobile learning app,as a new learning software,has been loved and welcomed by the majority of learners with its efficient learning experience.This research chooses the "Baicizhan" App,aiming to help college students of English majors acquire diverse and effective English vocabulary memory strategies and expand their English vocabulary by using this type of mobile learning App.Based on the theory of information processing,the research adopts the experiment method by means of questionnaire and tests to help students to apply the vocabulary memory strategies through app.This study focuses on the following three issues:(1)What is the current status of using mobile App to learn English vocabulary for English majors?(2)What is the effect of using mobile App for English majors on the English vocabulary learning result ?(3)What is the effect of using mobile App for English majors on their use of English vocabulary memory strategies?First,with the help of a questionnaire,this research investigated 83 second year English majors from Hetao University in Inner Mongolia about their understanding of "Baicizhan" app and their daily use of English vocabulary memory strategies;Secondly,two parallel classes were selected through the pre-test,and the application of "Baicizhan"APP in the reading class of the experimental class began on September 9,2019,over the course of 16 weeks."Baicizhan" App is applied to teach English vocabulary memory strategies,so that students can learn and master the strategies,and are able to apply them in future autonomous learning;Finally,the results of the students’ English vocabulary test was analyzed with the help of SPSS17.0 and EXCEL2003,and interviews were conducted for further analysis.The research results show that:(1)The "Baicizhan" App helps students expand their English vocabulary.Each student has a smart phone,so they all have the ability to download learning Apps in their smart phone and to memorize English vocabulary,but most of the students still use spelling and repeating ways to memorize English word.(2)After a semester of systematic learning,the results of the students’ English vocabulary test in the experimental class are significantly better than those in the control class.This shows that the "Baicizhan" App with its visualized vocabulary memory function,which is generally welcomed by college students.It plays an important role in assisting students to effectively grasp the rules of vocabulary formation,accurately grasp the pronunciation of words,and fully associate the meaning of words.(3)Through the outcomes of pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire,it can be seen that the students in the experimental class can use some vocabulary memory strategies such as association strategy,context strategy and root &affix strategy in mobile learning.It is found that,the mobile learning App for vocabulary memory strategy training can be effectively applied to college students’ English vocabulary teaching,helping students learn to use the word memory strategy,and it provides effective ways for English majors to learn English effectively.However,there are some limitations in this study,such as short intervention time and data limitation.
