In recent years,the rapid development of computer network technology has provided technical support for multimodal foreign language teaching.The gradual deepening of multimodal discourse analysis theory has also provided theoretical guidance for multimodal foreign language teaching.Computer-aided teaching,such as PPT demonstration teaching,is more and more popular with teachers and students,gradually replacing the traditional teaching mode.However,there is no definite conclusion about the practical effect of Multimodal PPT demonstration teaching at home and abroad.Zhang Delu pointed out that the impact of PPT demonstration teaching on Chinese students' foreign language learning should be studied in depth.The purpose of this paper is to integrate Multimodal PPT into primary school English vocabulary teaching,so as to provide some references for the majority of primary school English teachers to understand the effect of Multimodal PPT in improving the efficiency and interest of vocabulary learning.This study lasted for four months.The subjects of this study were 74 students in two parallel classes in gradefive.One class used traditional vocabulary teaching,the other used Multimodal PPT vocabulary teaching.The following three questions were studied by vocabulary pretest and post-test,Comprehensive ability pretest and post-test and questionnaire:(1)Can Multimodal PPT help primary students memorize English vocabularies?(2)What effects does the Multimodal PPT vocabulary teaching have on primary students' vocabulary application?(3)What is the attitude of primary students towards the application of Multimodal PPT in English vocabulary teaching ?Through the analysis of the data,it is found that after four months of different teaching,the post-test scores of vocabulary memorizing tests and comprehensive ability tests in the experimental class have been significantly improved and significantly higher than those in the controlled class.In addition,through the Paired Sample T-test of six types of questions in the comprehensive test,it is found that Multimodal PPT can effectively improve students' performance in reading comprehension,cloze,translation and composition,but not in dictation and grammar choice questions.It is proved that Multimodal PPT plays an important role in helping students understand the meaning of vocabulary in context and discriminate vocabulary,but not in spelling and grammar.The results of questionnaire show that most students approve of Multimodal PPTvocabulary teaching.They think this kind of vocabulary teaching is interesting with different kinds of teaching activities which contains all kinds of mode that can active their senses.The teaching environment is more relaxed and they are more willing to participate in classroom activities.Teachers simulate the real context which can help them better remember vocabularies.Through this study,the author puts forward some suggestions on the application of Multimodal PPT in primary school English vocabulary teaching,hoping to provide some theoretical and practical enlightenment for primary school English vocabulary teaching.It is hoped that teachers can better combine Multimodal PPT with traditional vocabulary teaching according to the content,target vocabulary and students in the future vocabulary teaching process,in order to improve students' interest in vocabulary learning while promoting the effect of vocabulary learning.
