Research And Teaching On The Special Structure Of Quantity In Modern Chinese

The concept of quantity exists in the objective things that accessible to human beings.This concept has varied expression forms and representations in different languages.To be able to stand out some different situations from the normal quantitative conditions,generally,there are some quantitative expressions that distinct from conventionality was applied in Chinese.In the expressive way of the basic quantifier,the most typical quantifier construction in modern Chinese is the "numeral+quantifier+noun".But beyond that,there are more special expression ways of quantifier structure lie in modern Chinese.From the perspective of word order,composition and recombination,take the following three kinds as a representation: First,the non-conventional word order of "noun + numeral + quantifier" match to quantity,for example,"two cups and four tea cups".The second is the partitive quantifier construction of "noun+adjective" in modern Chinese,a combination of nouns and adjectives used to express the space quantity of things,"egg big" and "palm wide",for instance.The third is utilizing the "parallel compound" to express the quantity,which often used in idioms.On the basis of summarizing the historical evolution of the three special structures,and based on the "three-plane Grammar" theory,the article explores the syntactic,semantics and pragmatic functions of the three special structures.At the same time,by exploring the existence and use of the three special structures in Chinese,English,Korean and Japanese,some teaching advice is put forward in the light of the questionnaire survey.
