City is a special form of human groups and the center of human civilization.City can reveal the development of the history of human civilization.The overall level of urban governance can also reveal the civilization level of development in the region in a period.Because of the material scarcity of ancient Mesopotamian research,the study of the city can help us more in-depth understanding of details of the society.This article studies Babylonia cities in Old Babylon period,mainly takes Ur and Sippar as examples to analyze their urban structure and also researches the administrative and religious management system,in order to clarify these cities during this period of common situation of development,specifically can be divided into the following several aspects: First,Babylonia's surrounding geographical environment period,political and cultural background in Old Babylon,and the archaeological history in Ur and Sippar;Second,the social and demographic structure of the cities;Third,the city's administrative management system and the city autonomy mode;Fourth,the cities' economic structure.Fifth,the religious system and management structure of the city.In Old Babylon period,the space structure and social personnel of the Babylonian cities have been improved,at the same time,in the aspect of economic life,each industrial sector also makes a progress.This provides a prerequisite for the development of urban governance in this period.And at this stage,the reasonable secular administration and religious management system of the Babylonian city can also prove its level of urban construction.Finally,through the study of Babylonian cities in Old Babylon period,this paper wishes to get some enlightenment on the problems we may encounter in the development of modern cities.
