Both Chinese and Malagasy have adjectives, verbs, nouns, and adverbs reduplication.Among them, adjective reduplication is the one with the largest number, the most complicated form, and the richest pragmatic functions. This article mainly studies the adjectives reduplication in Chinese and Malagasy from three aspects:phonetics, semantics and grammar. The conclusion of the comparative analysis in this paper is based on the analysis of the phonetic, semantic and grammatical rules of the adjectives reduplication in Chinese and Malagasy. The research conclusion of the full text is as follows. In phonetics. Both Chinese and Malagasy have complete and partial or incomplete reduplication, but Malagasy has incomplete reduplication which is not available in Chinese. When they are completely reduplicated, there a phonetic changes occur on the consonants and vowels of the internal components of the syllable in Malagasy language, while the phonetic changes of the Chinese language only occur in the tone and the change of the tone, hua and er;there are some Malagasy partial reduplication form that Chinese has not;the phonetic features and phonetic changes of the adjective reduplication in Malagasy language follow stricter phonetic rules, while the phonetic changes of Chinese are more free and are not restricted by the strict phonetic rules.Semantics aspects. The study found that the similarity between Malagasy and Chinese is that the semantic of adjectives reduplication in these two languages is full of emotion. After the muti-syllabic adjectives reduplication, they do not change the meaning of the original adjectives but there are differences in the degree of emphasis. Most overlapping forms of Malagasy language clearly reflect the slight degree of meaning in pronunciation, while the degree of expression of reduplication forms in Chinese is still controversial. In Malagasy language reduplication form, there aresome types of reduplication that can produce two kinds of opposite meanings, one for slight semantics and one for semantic enhancement. There is no such phenomenon in the Chinese reduplication form.Grammatical aspects.Chinese adjectives reduplication have multiple functions in sentences, and can be used as attributive, adverbial, predicate, object, etc. Some adjectives in Malagasy language have multiple functions in sentences, such as reduplication AA form, which can also be used as attributive, adverbial, predicate, object, etc. However, some can only be used as adverbial and predicate, such as ABB form;some can only be used as subject, such as AAB;and the ABAB can be used as attributive, adverbial, and object, and can never be used as a predicate. So far,the Malagasy academic community has not conducted statistical and meticulous research on the adjective reduplication of the Malagasy language. This article attempts to make some achievements in this regard. Therefore, these article not only adding to a more in-depth study of the two types of reduplication language in Malagasy language, but also appended a detailed statistical table of these two types of reduplication words at the end of the article.
