A Study Of Contemporary Art In "ZHUANGSHI" Magazine Cover Design

Founded in 1958,ZHUANGSHI magazine is the only professional publication of arts and crafts in China.As of 2018,ZHUANGSHI covered nearly 300 covers.In this60 years time,the magazine has experienced a tortuous course of founding,closing and republishing.Its development has not only kept pace with the development of Chinese design,but also witnessed the vicissitudes of 60 years in China.Cover design as the most direct reflection,it conveys the design consciousness just reflects the height and achievement of an era of art.Cover design changes with The Times,and the development and changes of The Times have also engraved the content and form of cover design with the brand of The Times.This paper takes ZHUANGSHI as the entry point,and explores the influence of The Times on the cover design of design periodicals from the macroscopic to microscopic perspective.It is divided into five chapters,each of which analyzes different problems.The second chapter investigates the background of the magazine and USES the statistical principle to grasp the form of the cover.The third chapter analyzes all the covers of the past 60 years in stages,and summarizes the characteristics of The Times with examples.The fourth chapter analyzes the internal and external factors that influence the cover design.The fifth chapter summarizes the artistic features of the cover and considers the inspiration for future designers.The cover design of ZHUANGSHI magazine has completed the transformation from traditional to modern.The cover keeps pace with The Times and forms the development pattern of the integration and complement of tradition and modern.Cover design is required for all graphic designer,cover with age is an inevitable result,changing cover in the form of diversification to see books landscape world enriched the People's Daily life,it is because the cover with a strong appeal and its unique design,so a set of functional and artistic quality of visual text.ZHUANGSHI magazine cover design witnessed China 60 years of wind and rain vicissitudes of life,contains both of new China's first generation designer business ideal,at the same time also witnessed the reform and opening up 40 years of arduous struggle and achievements,and through the cover of graphics,text,color and form,you can see a wider world.When I played off the dust of one cover after another,I suddenly caught a glimpse of the hearts and minds of several generations of Chinese arts and crafts designers.From this comes respect.This research will not only help today's designers better understand cover design,but also help to personalize and diversify cover designs for other journals.
