| The development of modern educational technology and philosophy has been exerting a great influence on the traditional classroom teaching in the senior high school. In the current English teaching reform,it becomes a new task of practical and theoretical significance whether or not the “flipped classroom”,as a new classroom-teaching model and organization form, can be effectively applied to oral English teaching in senior high school. This thesis is an approach to this problem guided by the independent learning theory, which combines constructivism, humanism and multiple intelligence learning theory.Three questions are the starting point of the research:(1)What are students’ attitudes towards the flipped classroom teaching model?(2)Whether the flipped classroom teaching can improve students’ oral English proficiency?(3)What is the influence of students’ learning autonomy on high school oral English flipped classroom teaching? The thesis aims at observing the real role played by the application of flipped classroom to oral English teaching in senior high school. And for that,a follow-up survey is made of two parallel classes for as long as a semester, one being the experimental class who are taught with the flipped classroom teaching method, the other the control class who are taught with the traditional teaching way.By means of questionnaire, oral pre-test,post-test and interview, with the data analyzed and calculated by SPSS 13.0,the research finds that the appropriate application of flipped classroom teaching to oral English teaching in senior high school will make the students more active in learning oral English and improve their ability to speak English. This result agrees with the purpose of teaching and learning claimed by the independent learning theory. And according to this theory, the teacher should be targeted at designing or adapting appropriate on-line courses and teaching procedures for the students to study before and after the class or at home.He should also be good at playing the role of the modern classroom facilitator, arousing the students’ interest in oral English. The students,on the other hand, need learn to self-regulate themselves and cooperate with their group members in the course. |
