For a long period of time,inductive and deductive approaches are the two domain teaching modes,using a solo pattern of teachers' teaching and students' practicing.For the teachers' intensively inducting the rules,students' passive receiving without any consideration,it brings an unsatisfied result with students' reluctant learning and teacher's paying so much effort without doing any good.Both of the Standard of English Course for High School(2017 Version)and the Consulting draft for the vocational schools' have pointed out that it should be focused on the English activity concept on key competencies clearly,calling on a usual mode of student-centered.Thus,teachers should integrate the teaching contents,regroup the teaching elements,motivate students to learn,and achieve deep teaching.In fact,the learning process of English grammar is an essential procedure of extracting and processing information.Based on Bruner's discovery method,retrieval practice effect,mediator effect hypnosis,the theories of loci and understanding methods of memory psychology,and Mckeachie's fine processing strategies,this research designs a creative way called “loci method” for teaching grammar,being carried out in the English grammar class in the vocational school with a purpose of finding out whether the loci method has an active influence on the students learning or not.The research questions are as follows: 1.Can the loci method enhance the accuracy of grammar multi-choice question? 2.Can the loci method reduce the mood of students' fears on English gramma? 3.Can the loci method increase the confidence of students' learning?The empirical research carries on two main stages.The first stage is taking action in a subject class(15 International Class with 40 students)using loci method and a controlled class(15 Business English Class with 38 students)using an inductive approach for the period from September 2016 to July 2017,and the other stage is in a subject class using loci method again from September 2018.Both of the stages are adopting English pre-tests and pro-tests,a questionnaire survey and interview records for certain subjects.At last,the test results of the second subject class are compared and analyze.And after the interview of some students from the three classes,a qualitative analysis is done.The results of the study show that the loci method has enhanced the marks of English grammar,not only reduced the fear of learning grammar but also raised their learning desire,and increased their learning confidence.Thus,this research has an active impact on students' English grammar learning and is worth promoting for some certain.
