Housing lease is a common phenomenon in ancient and modern society,it presented many new features in Sui and Tang dynasties.Housing lease contract documents unearthed in Turfan,provide first hand information and a new angle for research on housing lease of the Sui and Tang dynasty.This paper mainly focuses on eight house lease contract documents and three special types of houses in the Sui and Tang dynasties.The first chapter mainly focuses on the signing time and nature of the document67TAM364:9-2.According to analysis,the signing time of the contract 67TAM364:9-2 may be the third year of Kaihuang(A.D.583)or the fifteenth year of Kaihuang(A.D.595)and the house should be the property of temple.At that time,it is believed that there has been a phenomenon of shared accommodation and installment payment.The second chapter mainly focuses on the signing time of the document 65TAM40:28.The signing time of the contract 65TAM40:28 should be the first year of Yonghui(A.D.650).The house may be the private property of the monk,Lianbo and can be used for business.It is believed that special requirements,punishments of regret and other contents had became the indispensable contents of the contract.The third chapter mainly introduces three houses of Didian,hostel and monks' apartment.Those houses were very important but easy to be ignored,people rented those houses for accommodation and storage.The fourth chapter summarizes and analyzes the characteristics of housing lease in this period.Its business scale and national management have made great progress compared with the previous generation.Finally,it is believed that housing lease and the development of commodity economy in Sui and Tang dynasties were mutually promoted.
