This translation practice is based on the translation of the three chapters in The Wulao Mountains compiled by the Historical Material Committee of Yongji Municipal Committee,including Introduction of the Scenic Area,Cultural Connotation,Peaks and Springs.As a tourism text with both informative function and vocative function,the booklet introduces the natural scenery and cultural history of the Wulao Mountains.On the basis of the translation practice,this translation report summarizes the translation strategies in the translation of scenic spots names,cultural-specific items,four-character expressions at the lexical level and the sentences at the syntactic level,so as to devote to the English translation of the scenic spot in Yongji City.With more emphasis on both directive and operative functions,the translated text may help the target readers more acquainted with the Wulao Mountains and promote the cultural communication.Based on the English translation of The Wulao Mountains,the report includes five chapters: Task Description,Task Process,Literature Review,Case Study and Summary.The chapter Task Description introduces the background and significance of the translation project.The Task Process is divided into three parts,which introduce the preparation,process and proofreading of the translation task.Textual features were analyzed and the general translation principle was established during preparation.Then a glossary was made and the detailed translation process was explained.Problems that should be paid attention to in proofreading were listed at last.The third chapter makes a literature review about functionalist theory and the research on tourism translation.The Case Study mainly discusses the translation of scenic spots names,cultural-specific items and four-character expressions at the lexical level.Translation skills,including linear translation,restructuring,amplification,voice shifting and shift of perspective,were used in dealing with sentences.The last chapter summarizes the translation experience and limitations of the report.
