The Research On The Relationship Of Mate Value Discrepancy,Marital Satisfaction And Forgiveness

The research on the relationship of mate value discrepancy,marital satisfaction and forgiveness is of great significance.Mate value discrepancy can affect ongoing intimacy.Marital satisfaction can affect the quality and stability of marriage.Forgiveness can not only promote effective conflict resolution and repair intimacy,but also benefit physical and mental health.Therefore,research on the relationship of mate value discrepancy,marital satisfaction,and forgiveness is of great significance in arousing awareness of mate value,enhancing marital satisfaction,and promoting forgiveness.Foreign research on forgiveness in intimate relationships has been rich in results,while domestic scholars have only done some research in the field of amative forgiveness,and research on marital forgiveness has not yet.By combing foreign studies,we can find that the influence of mate value discrepancy on marital satisfaction and marital forgiveness needs further investigation,and the relationship between marital satisfaction and marital forgiveness needs further verification.Therefore,this study will explore the relationship of mate value discrepancy,marital satisfaction and forgiveness in marriage relationships in China's cultural context.This study contains two contents:the first is the reliability and validity test of The Marital Offence-Specific Forgiveness Scale,and the second is the research on the relationship of mate value discrepancy,marital satisfaction,and forgiveness.The first study used The Marital Offence-Specific Forgiveness Scale and Self-esteem Scale.A total of 247 married individuals were tested and 43 of them were retested four weeks later.SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 23.0 software are used for item analysis,exploratory factor analysis,confirmatory factor analysis,criterion validity analysis and reliability test.The second study used a questionnaire method.The measurement tools used were the Mate Value Inventory,Marital Adjustment Test,and The Marriage Specific Infringement Forgiveness Scale(Chinese version).A total of 494 married participants who had been married for more than half a year were investigated.SPSS 25.0 and Hayes macros were used to perform descriptive statistics,difference tests,correlation analysis,simple linearity regression,and mediator effect test on the data.The test results of the demographic variables showed that there were significant gender differences in mate value discrepancy,marital satisfaction,and forgiveness.The statistical results of simple linearity regression showed that:mate value discrepancy significantly positively predicted marital satisfaction;mate value discrepancy significantly positively predicted forgiveness;and marital satisfaction significantly positively predicted forgiveness.The results of the mediator effect test showed that marital satisfaction played a full mediator role between mate value discrepancy and forgiveness.Research conclusions:(1)The Chinese version of MOFS includes two dimensions of benevolent and resentment-avoidance.It has good reliability and validity,and all indicators meet the statistical standards of psychological measurement.It is an effective tool for measuring marital forgiveness.(2)Individuals who evaluate their spouses' mate value higher than themselves have higher marital satisfaction.(3)Individuals who evaluate their spouses' mate value higher than themselves have higher levels of forgiveness to spouses.(4)Individuals with higher marital satisfaction have higher levels of forgiveness to spouses.(5)Marital satisfaction plays a full mediating role between mate value discrepancy and marriage forgiveness,and the mediating effect is significant.
