The Relationship Between Parents’ Marital Quality And College Students’ Preference For Spouse Selection:A Moderated Mediation Model

Maternal selection is an important issue in evolutionary psychology.Individuals select their spouses and transfer genes to complete reproduction.Choosing spouse preference is the cornerstone of the successful completion of choosing spouse behavior.Every individual has his own requirements and preferences for choosing spouse.The quality of parents’ marriage plays a very important role in the family.The quality of parents’ marriage will affect the adult attachment of individuals,and the different attachment types of individuals have different preferences for spouse selection.The quality of parents’ marriage will also affect the pressure of childhood,further affect the individual’s life history strategy,and affect the individual’s spouse selection.At present,there are few recognized measurement tools with reliability and validity for spouse selection preference in China.In the past,many studies on spouse selection preference at home and abroad focused on the specific content,mechanism and theoretical explanation of spouse selection requirements,as well as the differences between men and women/generations.There are few studies on the influence of parents’ marital quality on spouse selection preference,and few studies on the relationship between parents’ marital quality and childhood environmental pressure.Force and adult attachment are linked and studied under the framework of life history theory.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to explore the influence of parents’ marital quality on spouse preference and its model,as well as the role of childhood environmental stress and adult attachment in the influencing mechanism.Study 1: A good reliability and validity spouse preference questionnaire was developed as the research tool of study 2.Study 2: To explore the influence mechanism of parents’ marital quality on spouse selection preference,the Olsen Marriage Quality Scale,Adult Attachment Scale,Childhood Environmental Stress Scale and Spouse Selection Preference Questionnaire were used to investigate college students in Sichuan Normal University,Sichuan College of Arts and Sciences,Lanzhou Jiaotong University and Gansu Provincial College of Health.SPSS22.0 and Mplus software were used to process data and investigate fathers.The relationship among maternal marital quality,spouse preference,adult attachment and childhood stress.The results show that:(1)The spouse preference scale has good reliability and validity,and is suitable for the measurement of individual spouse preference.(2)There is a significant positive correlation between parents’ marital quality and spouse selection preference;there is a negative correlation between parents’ marital quality and adult attachment;there is a significant negative correlation between parents’ marital quality and childhood stress;there is a significant positive correlation between adult attachment and attachment anxiety,attachment avoidance and childhood stress;there is a significant negative correlation between adult attachment and attachment anxiety,attachment avoidance and spouse selection preference;It was negatively correlated with spouse preference and other dimensions.(3)In the mechanism and model of the influence of parents’ marital quality on spouse preference,childhood stress plays a part of mediating role.(4)Adult attachment regulates the direct path between parents’ marital quality and spouse preference,but has no significant effect on the mediating path related to childhood stress.In other words,adult attachment plays a moderating role in the mechanism and model of the influence of parents’ marital quality on spouse preference.CONCLUSION:(1)The reliability and validity of the self-designed spouse preference scale are good,(2)there are significant correlations among variables,(3)childhood stress mediates the relationship between parents’ marital quality and spouse preference,and adult attachment moderates the relationship between parents’ marital quality and spouse preference.
