Since the birth of our country ' s independent documentary,because it ' s independence is more narrow than the audiences of mainstream documentary.With the advance of the broadcast channels of documentaries and the quality of documentary itself,the range of audiences enlarge constantly.The independent documentary enters network even theaters now,since the minority favor in the last century.The “bottom feelings” and the “Chivalrous spirit” are our country's independent documentary filmmakers' outstanding features,and this spirit push them to capture the underclasses of urban edge.Most of their subjects come from countryside and small-town,they struggle in city,they are the “urban strangers” what mentioned in this article.This article will discuss and summarize the Chinese independent documentary' s narration of the urban strangers,and think through three aspects: narrative subject,narrative object,and narrative strategy.And it will according to correlation theory from communications,narratology,and sociology.Chapter one is mainly to arrange and summarize the concepts of Chinese independent documentary and urban strangers,section one summarizes our country's independent documentary's history on the theoretical basis which Dr.Lv Xinyu divided the “new documentary movement”into the development of“in-system”and“outside system”.Section two defines the connotation of urban strangers in independent documentary according to the definition of urban strangers in the domain of literary studies which is rather mature in the studies of narration to urban strangers.Chapter two analyzes and arrange the creation subject in aspects of creation ethic and director's personalized writing.Chapter three analyzes the deep reason that why they can't integrate into city and can't back to town on the basis of correlation theory of sociology,also in the main thread of urban strangers ' dilemmas and awakening.In addition,this chapter also analyzes the increasingly accepted identity space of the new generation of urbanstrangers from the aspect of mainstream society.Chapter four summarizes and arrange the narrative skills' genalities and advantages of the documentary of this theme,which from three aspects of urban strangers' narration: previous select,interim shot,and post production.And it uses the application theory of documentary creation.In addition,it also analyzes the referential value what the independent documentary offer mainstream media from the perspective of mainstream media.
