The exchange of Chinese and Western arts between the Ming and Qing dynasties was the first large-scale substantial contact between the two cultural systems."Western learning to the east" is naturally the biggest characteristic of this period.The development of court paintings in the three dynasties of the Kangxi,Yongzheng,and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty has completely different characteristics from the previous generation.This was determined by the specific economic culture,social system,and external relations at that time.After the opening of the new route,the European capitalist economy developed rapidly,Western missionaries came east,and Chinese culture was gradually influenced by the West.The contact and exchange of Eastern and Western cultures play a significant role in the development and progress of their respective societies.All along,the aesthetic interest of the highest ruler has greatly influenced the style and type of palace paintings of the era.The acceptance of Western missionaries by the rulers of the Qing Dynasty also affected the development of palace paintings of the Qing Dynasty.The era of the new court paintings of the Qing Dynasty began to develop from Kangxi to the prosperity of Qianlong.It has attracted attention in the development of documentary major themes,war maps,portraits,character customs,and decorative murals.These paintings include China The inheritance of traditional painting is also obviously influenced by Western painting,and has formed a new painting style different from previous dynasties.It has achieved text breakthroughs in lines,perspectives and colors.These breakthroughs undoubtedly benefited from Chinese and Western cultures.The external influence of communication provides us with practical experience on how to treat foreign culture and art.By studying the Western paintings brought by Western missionaries in the 18 th century to infiltrate,communicate,and reconstruct traditional Chinese palace paintings,we can see that the development of Chinese palace painting art developed to the Qing Dynasty,and the traditional Chinese aesthetics that has accumulated for nearly a thousand years has withstood The test of the influence of Western aesthetic thought has proved through practice that the fusion of Chinese and Western paintings and innovations is not a sum of techniques on a simple level.The reconstruction is only to better express the form of essential content.It is not a deep ideological concept.The same is true of words.Therefore,the reference and absorption of Western painting with a rational attitude serves the innovative reform of Chinese painting.This spirit provides practical experience for us how to treat foreign cultures.In the new era,the call for "cultural self-confidence" requires that we begin to reflect on and promote our own cultural traditions,and have a profound understanding of the "cultural self-confidence" of the Qing Dynasty,taking history as a mirror and treating the development of Chinese art in a rational manner.
