The Study Of Knight Vernacular Songs From The Perspective Of Mariolatry

As a religious and cultural phenomenon of Christianity in the middle ages of Europe,“ Mariolatry” had a very important influence on the knight vernacular songs in the same historical period.Based on the analysis of two kinds of knight vernacular songs,this paper studies the relationship between “Mariolatry” and knight vernacular songs.One is a knight vernacular song with the theme of “courtly love”,which eulogized the married lady.One is the knight vernacular song in praise of the Virgin Mary,which can be regarded as a secular supplement to the Christian Madonna ritual music.On this basis,from the perspective of the“Mariolatry” trend of thought,this paper attempts to explore the dual attributes of religion and Secularity of knight vernacular songs,as well as the open thinking on the status of women and other issues.
