Since the Reform and Opening up,China's social development has taken a major historical turn.With the development of the national economy and the continuous improvement of cultural level,Chinese music creation has also flourished due to the emancipation of ideas.With the development of the national economy and the continuous improvement of cultural level,Chinese music creation has also flourished owing to the emancipation of ideas.Then,Chinese piano music ushered in new developments,and the creation of piano composers began to have a new understanding between tradition and innovation,individuality and internationality.Liu Dunnan,a well-known contemporary Chinese-American composer of Chinese origin,who is known as "the fourth generation of Chinese composers".His creation has always been based on China's traditional music culture,borrowed from Western fusion techniques,and successfully established his own music creation system— — " Tonal Twelve-tone Aggregate ".His works combine Chinese and Western styles,well compatibly,and form his own unique creative philosophy,which has made outstanding contributions to the development of contemporary Chinese piano music creation."Four Folk Songs" is a modern piano piece with traditional Chinese folk music elements created by Liu Dunnan,absorbing western modern music composition techniques and using his unique creative voice " Tonal Twelve-tone Aggregate ".The entire work is divided into four small songs: "Horse Tunes","Lullaby","Goubly Beans",and "Tea Picking".The melody is new and the folk music is colorful.This work is full of great research value both in music analysis and performance.This article takes Liu Dunnan's piano set "Four Folk Songs" as the research target.It is divided into four parts.The first part briefly introduces the life of composer Liu Dunnan and the background of his piano set "FourFolk Songs".The second part studies the overall creative style of this set from four aspects: the melody,the tonality of the work,the structure of the melody,and the unique creative voice.In the third part,with the perspective of performance of Liu Dunnan's "Four Folk Songs",digs deeply into the characteristics of traditional folk music contained in the work and analyzes the unique performance style of the work.The fourth part,through the practical performance of "Four Folk Songs",analyzes and summarizes the performance skills and difficulties of the work,and puts forward practical suggestions based on personal practice.
