Research On Graphic Shamanist Symbols Visualization

As the original polytheism,Shamanism is the earliest,longest and most intact native religious culture which has completed the transformation from engaging in superstitious activities to developing a worldwide religious culture.It has produced a profound impact on contemporary art and regional culture.Based on the basic viewpoints of semiotics,this paper deeply explores the visual characteristics of signs and images of Shamanism as well as the connotation and semantics conveyed by them,and makes visual analysis and research on these signs and images.This paper studies the visualization of signs and images of Shamanism from three parts: Firstly,it briefly discusses the origin and current situation of Shamanism through the introduction of its folk characteristics such as sacred costumes,artifacts,masks,accessories and dances.Secondly,it applies Lottman's cultural semiotic theory to interpret and explore the causes and significance of the formation of the signs and images of Shamanism,carries out semiotic interpretation simultaneously,and summarizes its characteristics.Thirdly,according to the principle of modern visualization,this paper integrates the traditional signs and images of Shamanism and analyzes its application value in the contemporary era.Through the research of this paper,it is found out that the signs and images of Shamanism can be divided into two types – the empathy symbols and abstract symbols;it shows such symbolic characteristics like functionality,symmetry and concreteness,and has unique aesthetic value and practical effects.The visualization of signs and images of Shamanism is then considered to be of practical significance for modern packaging design,tourist souvenir design,and guidance design.Meanwhile,through the visual extraction of traditional signs and images of Shamanism,the culture of Shamanism can achieve the research purpose of making the past serve the present.
