"Line",as the most basic and important element in painting creation, has been widely disseminated and recognized. Therefore, the public often mistakenly believes that the creation of "line" in painting only serves to reproduce and copy the objective objects, ignoring that "line" is actually a "linear language" with emotions and can be used for expression and communication. Also in the creation of oil paintings, people also believe that the visual impact of color can more resonate with emotions, while contempt of linear language also plays a vital role in emotional expression.First of all,the text combs the development, characteristics and application of linear language in Western painting. It clearly shows that from the earliest primitive period of painting to ancient Greece, middle ages,Renaissance,17 th,18th and 19 th century modernism, linear language has always been the most important way of painting, and has continued to this day.Under the grinding of time, the linear language in painting is more and more mature, and there is more room for development and higher aesthetic value.Based on the influence of different periods of history, religion, society, artistic concepts, artists, etc.on the linear language in oil painting works, the expression forms are constantly enriched, and the scope of emotional expression is also expanded,so the emotional expression of linear language in oil painting works has diversity. The author divides it into three categories: objective and rational linear language, subjective and perceptual linear language, subconscious and unconscious linear language. In the fourth chapter,I analyze Schiller,Pollock and Zeng Fanzhi, three artists who have contributed to the development and application of linear language and emotion expression in oil painting creation one by one.At the beginning of the 20 th century,Schiller,an Austrian expressionist painter, had outstanding artistic talent, withdrawn, introverted, sensitive and restless personality and ups and downs of life experience.Based on his oil paintings, this paper analyzes in detail Schiller's passion and fierce linear language, repressive and morbid linear language, soft and calm linear language. As a master of American Abstract Expressionism in the 20 th century,Pollock, the founder of "dribble" action painting. He was rebellious, neurotic and addicted to alcohol all his life, which eventually led to his death. In Pollock's fragile and painful life, rough and wild linear language, rebellious and contradictory linear language, restless and uninhibited linear language run through his oil paintings.Zeng Fanzhi is one of the most influential and reputable artists in contemporary China and the world. As a child,Zeng Fanzhi began to observe life and human nature earlier than his peers. The change of living environment, the relationship between people, the pursuit of reality and freedom in his heart became the main inspiration of his oil painting creation.Zeng Fanzhi's weak and gloomy linear language, indifferent and alienated linear language, pure and free linear language are the true portrayals of his inner feelings and life changes in different stages. With the continuous development of artistic concept, the linear language in oil painting has more development space and higher aesthetic value. Each artist and art creator has his own unique artistic perspective and personality. The linear language and its emotional expression in oil paintings are not common but individual, and cannot be replaced and imitated. In the current art environment, artists should combine their own emotions with the emotions of the times, and create and express their own linear language and emotions by seeking, recognizing and deepening their own unique "personality".
