Studies On The Application Of Woodcarving Decorative Images Of Chengzhi Tang In Modern Decorative Paintings

Chengzhi Tang,in Hongcun Village,Yixian County,Huizhou District,is a symbol of late Qing Dynasty architectures,which has complicated and exquisite decorations,especially the wood carvings.The decorative images of the wood carvings are extremely stylized,but the creation of them has already formed a relatively independent system.They are the visual presentations of excellent information in our nation's feudal thoughts.According to the theoretical basis of previous studies,through case studies,field trips,design practices,and other research methods,the author dissected the decorative images of wood carvings of Chengzhi Tang,and explored its application in modern decorative paintings.The author also tried to combine it with modern decorative techniques to provide the traditional culture and new presentation methods for the design and creation of modern decorative paintings.First of all,based on the special building background of Chengzhi Tang,the author analyzed the origin of its wood carvings,put forward the main purposes of construct,including the front hall with “Fu(Blessing)”,the back hall with “Shou(Longevity)”,and the side hall with “Xue(Learning)”,and explored the connection between spatial positions of architectural elements and decorative images.In this paper,the author dissected and introduced the decorative themes,decorative positions,combination forms,and implied meanings of woodcarving decorative images,to gain the system of decorative images.In the second place,the author gave a clear explanation of the modern decorative paintings and gave analyses of application background and values of woodcarving decorative images of Chengzhi Tang used in modern decorative paintings design and the uses of pattern elements in the creation of modern decorative painting to get the practical and creative themes which are conformed the modern mainstream values.In the end,on the basis of the demands of industrial productions,the modern decorative artworks with woodcarving decorative elements of Chengzhi Tang could be designed by people,which could bring new attempts to the design performance of modern decorative paintings.
