A Study Of Gansu Governor In Qing Dynasty

The Gansu governor was the highest chief executive in Gansu in the early Qing Dynasty.The governors of Gansu in the Qing Dynasty were set up in the second year of Shunzhi(1645).The reasons for their establishment are as follows: First,the Qing government attached great importance to the special geographical location of the three sides of Gansu.Second,the chaotic local order in Gansu during the Ming and Qing Dynasties required large officers to sit down and appease them.Third,the Qing army has inherited the basic idea of the Ming system since its entry into the border.With the stability of the local area and the strengthening of the Qing Dynasty's rule,the area and scope of its functions are constantly changing.From the initial border town governor to the highest chief executive of Gansu Province,from the first military inherited from the Ming Dynasty to the later dedicated civil affairs,until the cancellation of the vacancy in the twentynine years of Qianlong(1764)in Qianlong.The development of the governor system in Gansu not only reflects the establishment process of the governor system in the Qing Dynasty,but also shows the general course of the Qing Dynasty 's strategy in the northwest.A total of forty-five governors were granted to Gansu governors in the Qing Dynasty,for a total of thirty-nine peoples.By examining the status of the membership,we can grasp the different characteristics of the above aspects in different periods,so as to outline its group image.Based on this,I further explored the Qing Dynasty's attitude and principles on the appointment of the Northwest Frontier,so as to understand how important the Qing government is to the Northwest.In addition,the Gansu governor group,as the highest chief executive in Gansu before the mid-Qianlong period,has made important contributions in improving administration,emphasizing agriculture and disaster relief,and respecting etiquette and education.This article will show the performance and contribution of local governors in Gansu by examining the specific political measures of Gansu governors during their tenure.
