Medusa is one of the most important female characters in ancient Greek and Roman mythology.She is a classic figureconstantly being re-created and reinterpreted by the literary and artistic works of the later generations with her unique image of the snake-hair banshee and special stonizationpower.At the same time,she has become an art discourse resource repeatedly used by feminist theorists since the last century.This paper takes the time clue as the main line and adopts the Doxologie research method.On the one hand,the evolution process of Medusa image from its birth to the present(specifically classified in to four historical stages: ancient Greek and Roman period,Renaissance,17-20 th century and the first half of the 20 th century to the present)is reorganized.On the other hand,the causes and laws behind the evolution are analyzed,in order to explore the influence of the mythical figure of Medusa on the literature and art of later generations.On this basis,the paper also briefly explore the reasons behind the formation and establishment of literature and art classics.To study the story of Medusa,the paper sorts out the development and evolution of Medusa image in literary and artistic works,and researches the compatibility of literary and artistic development with ancient Greek civilization.Through the tragic character of Medusa,the paper explores the influence of Greek mythology represented by Medusa on modern civilization,tries to analyze its influence on the evolution of literary classics with the change of times and social development,and examinesthe subtle relationship between ancient Greek mythology and literature,art and modern civilization from a new perspective.In combination with the methods such as comprehensive analysis method,method of induction,psychoanalytic criticism,the paper explores the characteristics of the times and beyond the times of Greek mythological character Medusa and the theme of the story as well as law and reasons of changes...
