The communicative approach was gradually formed in the 1960 s and 1970 s.Some linguists believe that we should cultivate the communicative competence of learners as the ultimate goal of foreign language teaching.Referring to the related research on communicative teaching method at home and abroad,this paper conducts an empirical study on the use of communicative teaching method for grammar teaching for Business English Majors of Grade 2017 in Dongguan Nanbo Vocational and Technical School,aiming to seek a grammar teaching approach under the premise of helping students to establish the concept of verbal communication.The main questions of this study are:(1)What is the effect of CLT on mastering grammatical knowledge for students?(2)Can Communicative Approach stimulate students' motivation and interest in learning grammar? Based on the above two questions,this paper selected Business English Majors of Grade 2017 in Dongguan Nanbo Vocational and Technical School as the research subjects,and adopted the control class,questionnaire,interview and grammar level tests(the pre-test and post-test).Among them,50 students in the experimental class(Class 1)received communicative teaching method for grammar teaching.Meanwhile,there're also 50 students who accepted grammar-translation teaching in the control class(Class 2).After 12 weeks' teaching experiment,the author used SPSS 17.0 software to analyze the data of the questionnaires,interviews,pre-test,and post-test in theexperimental class and the control class.The results showed that:(1)Communicative Approach can more effectively help students master grammatical knowledge.(2)Communicative Teaching Method played an active role in cultivating students' motivation and interest in grammar learning,that is,communicative teaching could strengthen students' motivation and improve students' interest in grammar learning.According to a great number of the data,the study made quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results of the experiment and relevant data in empirical way.Some available suggestions were put forward for the teachers who use CLT to teach grammar and the limitations and directions for this research pointed out for the future research.
