This report is designed in the form of translation report according to relevant requirements for MTI dissertation. It consists of Chinese-English translation practice and essay. With regard to the translation practice, the source text comprises 15 pieces of news from the news column of Yinzhou District Government Website,12,786 Chinese characters in total. The content mainly concerns Yinzhou government's performance and local events with specific expressions applied. It takes about seventeen months for the author to translate the source text into English and convert the translation process into the report. The report chiefly includes four chapters: task description, theoretical support, case study and conclusion.First and foremost, the author gives description of the background of and requirements for the translation project and her efforts in accomplishing the task. Then Bourdieu's sociological theory is introduced in the second chapter to help explore how “field” and “habitus” influence the author's translation practice. While in the case analysis, the author summarizes difficulties encountered in the process of translation and correspondingly-employed translation approaches.Meanwhile, the author gives account of her consideration given to finalizing translation approaches when tackling specific problems by means of the explanatory power of Bourdieu's “field” and “habitus” theory.Last but not least,it comes to the conclusion that the author's selection of translation method is inextricably bound up with her established habitus and the fields she stays in.With regard to this report, under the influence of habitus, the author subconsciously takes the norms or trends of the translation field and field of power into consideration, and accomplishes the translation practice by way of appropriate translation methods in the light of her early-developed translation principle.
