As an essential quality in English,reading ability plays a significant part in English reading teaching in senior high schools;meanwhile,it also acts as an important carrier in expanding English knowledge and vocabulary.However,in traditional English class,the teaching model is still teacher-centered in which teachers generally lay emphasis on language points while students always passively receive reading information.What's worse,the classroom atmosphere is boring;students don't really participate in class and it lacks student-teacher and student-student interactions,which results in inefficient improvement of students' reading ability and discouragement of interest in reading,hence a time-consuming and inefficient situation that prevails.Therefore,it's urgent to change the traditional teaching model in reading.It's a combination of students' learning and teachers' guide in guided learning plan teaching model so that with the carrier of learning plan,students autonomously learn under the guidance of teachers,thus teachers and students cooperate to complete teaching tasks,which cultivates autonomy of students in reading,encourages interest in reading,instructs certain efficient reading strategies and improves reading performances.Based on Humanistic theory and Zone of proximal development,the paper proposes guided learning plan teaching model for English reading in high schools and builds GUIDE model(Gain;Unite;Improve;Develop;Evaluate),which aims to study whether the application of guided learning plan teaching model in reading teaching,compared with traditional reading teaching methods,can encourage reading interest,help students cultivate good reading habits and strategies,and improve reading ability and performance.The experimental subjects of this teaching experiment are two parallel classes in Senior Two in Fuzhou No.15 middle school.In the experiment,the experimental class uses the guided learning plan teaching model in reading;the control class uses the traditional teaching.The research methods used are questionnaires and Pre-test and Post-test of reading performance and individual interviews.After the experiment,SPSS statistics is used for data analysis.The experimental results show that guided learning plan teaching model is helpful to encourage students' interest in reading,improve students' readingability and acquisition of reading strategies;additionally,it can also promote interaction between teachers and students.Therefore,this model has positive effects on English reading teaching and learning.
